Location: Meldreth, Nr. Royston, Cambridgeshire/Hertfordshire border Hours: 4 week rota pattern – Average 40hrs per week for full time and flexible part time shifts/hours available including weekend only hours. Training: Full training is provided and once passed probation we will support and fund you completing Level 3 diploma in Residential Child Care We are currently looking for a number of Care Workers in Meldreth, Nr. Royston (South Cambridgeshire / North Hertfordshire border), where our Aurora Meldreth Manor children’s home and school provides education, care and therapeutic support for children and young people aged 9-19 years with severe and profound communication difficulties associated with conditions such as cerebral palsy, autism, brain injury and degenerative disorders. Key Duties Providing exceptional high levels of care during all daily activities such as washing, dressing, socialising, learning, washing/personal care. Assisting with therapy sessions such as hydrotherapy and rebound therapy. Communicating effectively and building strong relationships that will empower the children and young adults are free to grow and develop Ensuring that the environment is safe, supportive and enjoyable Helping develop their learning and social skills wherever possible Skills and Qualifications It is a tough yet totally rewarding role. Ultimately, we are looking for people with a passion to build relationships and positively change the lives of the children and young adults that we work with. So, whilst previous experience would be highly beneficial; it’s not essential. Where appropriate, the National Curriculum is taken into consideration in the planning and delivery of activities. Teaching staff work together with therapists and learning support assistants to develop and deliver a meaningful, appropriate and personalised curriculum for every student. Classes are grouped according to students’ sensory needs, cognitive understanding and compatibility. Some of our students have particular interests which are related to their developmental age rather than their chronological age. We consider it important to strike the right balance in acknowledging the students’ interests and offering age-appropriate options.
