Job Description

Job Title: Care Worker

Salary: £11.00 per hour (pay award pending)

Hours: 8am – 2pm on Monday to Friday

Job Purpose: To work as a member of a small team, providing personal care to adults within their own homes, meeting their care needs in a supportive setting consistent with their identified care plan, and to adhere to Health & Safety regulations. This service is provided within the G82 & G83 area.

Main Duties:

1. To assist users to dress/undress

2. To prepare shower/bath area

3. To use designated equipment as necessary

4. To transfer users safely to and from the bath/shower

5. To assist users while in shower/bath

6. To assist/ encourage with mobility

7. To record information in client files and Home Care Diary on a daily basis

8. To update client personal care plans and provide an input into their regular reviews

9. Ensure all work is carried out and recorded meeting the National Health & Social Care Standards and SSSC Code of Practice

10. To communicate with external agencies, carers and families where appropriate

11. To attend staff meetings/training as required

12. Use computer and handheld electronic systems for input and recording of client’s information

13. To report to the Senior Care Worker on a regular basis regarding any change in users’ circumstances

14. To undertake designated tasks as directed by the Senior Care worker

appropriate to the grade

Person specification:

Qualities

* a commitment to delivering high quality care,

* Strong communication, interpersonal and IT skills

* An ability to work independently in the community and as part of a team

Experience: Previous experience is not essential as a full training package is delivered within induction period which includes moving and assisting training.

Qualifications: A qualification in SVQ Level 2 in health and social care is desirable, the willingness to work towards this is essential and would be expected to begin after the first 12 months of employment

SSSC registration is required for this post, if you are not already registered then registration must take place within the first 6 months of taking up post

All employees are subject to a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme record check for working with older adults, Ben View will cover this cost

Induction will cover a comprehensive training programme and shadowing with experienced carers

It is essential that you have your own car and a clean current driving license.
