Birmingham Multi-care (a subsidiary of Midland Mencap) is a not-for-profit organisation which provides care services to people with multiple disabilities and their families.
We are urgently recruiting for support workers who are flexible, enthusiastic, motivated and pride themselves in delivering a service that is person centred to support individual needs.

We need Care/Support workers to work in the following areas:

Chelmsley Wood (2 Full time posts)

Northfield (Part time)

Kings Norton (Part Time)

Lozells (Part Time)

Bordesley Green (Full Time)

Great Barr (Part Time)

Handsworth (Part time)

You will need to be flexible in your approach and be ready to work evenings, weekends, and occasional nights.
The care service we offer takes place primarily in the family home but can be community based and offers support respite to families who are caring for someone with both learning and physical disability.

As a support worker you will be required to provide a full care service as required by service user and their families, including feeding, bathing, toileting, correct lifting and correct use of equipment and aids where appropriate, some domestic tasks and liaising with other professionals.
You may also be asked to take people out to access opportunities in the community.

We would also like you to have

  • Some care experience (either paid voluntary or personal)
  • A commitment to making the most of peoples’ abilities
  • A commitment to anti-discriminatory working practices
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A good sense of humour
  • A good command and understanding of the English language (both written and verbal)
  • Experience of working with people with both learning and physical disabilities.
  • Full driving license and access to a vehicle (desirable but not essential)

You will be required to participate in training in all the mandatory subjects plus additional training as is necessary to meet individual needs.

Due to the nature of the role, you will be required to complete an enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check and have 2 good references before starting with us.
