Job Summary

As a professional carer at Shine Care, you will help our clients transform the way they live their lives as much as possible and integrate into their local community. In this role you will be supporting the clients’ personal and social care needs and taking on general domestic duties such as shopping, housekeeping, and meal preparation.

Key Responsibilities

- Understand and respond to the specific needs of the clients.

- Respect the rights, needs and dignity of the clients, while ensuring their behaviour does not harm themselves or others.

- Help create a calm, happy and supportive environment which promotes the physical and emotional health, security, individuality and self-esteem of the clients.

- Create opportunities for the clients to establish and maintain personal relationships and social networks which encourage greater participation and presence in their own community.

- Communicate with care managers, families, and other agencies to provide a high-quality, outcome focused level of care and service.

- Monitor the clients’ wellbeing and progress, documenting and completing daily record sheets.

As a Shine Care carer, it’s your job to understand and respond to the specific need of the clients’personal care. You will be part of the clients’ everyday lives, providing care and daily organisation of domestic tasks such as preparing meals and housekeeping to maintain a clean and safe environment. You’ll be there to support with their social development, helping create opportunities for our clients to maintain personal relationships and social networks.

You will have a number of additional responsibility and commitments; these will include the following:

- Participate in training, developing your skills and knowledge to ensure you are providing the best support for the clients, while also improving upon and maintaining your abilities.

- Attend staff meetings and reviews, some of which may be outside of work hours.

- Immediately report any incidence, suspicion, sign of physical or verbal abuse, neglect, or harm of a client, as outlined in the whistleblowing policy and procedure.

- Be responsible for ensuring that all drugs and medicines are securely stored and administered safely and correctly.

- Be familiar with Shine Care’s Health and Safety policy and promote safe working practices.

- Ensure full compliance with infection control and procedure following company policy.

- Report and record any accident or incident that may occur – no matter how small.

- Report to line manager any aspect of the clients’ care, which you feel warrants investigation or urgent action.

Note: Some development and qualification opportunities will require completion of probation period.

Qualifications and Skills

- To be able to commute to the care location.

- NVQ2 or L2 Diploma in Care is desirable.

- Driving Licence and Car Owner desirable.

- Basic Computer skills are essential.

- Good Communication skills.

Pay – From £10.90 per hour (NVQ3 or L3 Diploma in Care will receive 10p per hour extra).
