Care Giver / Senior Caregiver – home care

Responsible to: Care Manager

Right at Home is a friendly, local homecare provider which recognises that its staff are its greatest asset. We are looking for a Senior Caregiver who is friendly, caring, reliable, and patient. You will need good verbal communication skills and have a genuine desire to help others. We are passionate about helping older people to stay living independently in their own homes.

The majority of your working time will be spent delivering actual care to a number of regular clients. Many of these clients you will be responsible for overseeing along with supporting a group of fellow caregivers.

Purpose of the position

There are four main areas of responsibility within this role:

1. CareGiver – providing high quality care and support to some regular clients.

2. CareGiver Support – to coach and support a team of CareGivers ensuring they are delivering great care, feel supported and coaching them to continually improve.

3. Key Contact for Clients – to act as a key point of contact from initial assessment through to review and change of care requirements.

- Support your team of caregivers; maintain weekly contact to ensure they feel supported and valued and can feedback any concerns
- Support new CareGivers to complete their induction checklist / Care Certificate
- Complete effective Field Supervisions and Supervisions and annual appraisal as required
- Support company projects around staff engagement & wellbeing
- Support the rollout of new initiatives and best practice with Right at Home.

3. Client Support
- Maintain regular contact with your clients and their families to check they are happy with the service provided and we adapt to their changing needs.
- Complete effective Client Reviews as required
- Encourage CareGivers to work with clients to achieve exceptional results & support company projects to improve client wellbeing
- Resolve to the client’s satisfaction any issues or complaints that arise from your clients

4. Auditing
- Complete regular, scheduled auditing of client care notes, care plans etc to ensure we remain compliant and our work is to the highest standard

5. On Call Duties
- Take the on call duties on a rota with the other Senior Caregivers
- When on call, handle all calls professionally and appropriately
- Resolve any issues as they occur
- Document all calls and actions taking – being clear of any follow up actions needed
- Hand over the on call info to the office after the on call duty

Working Pattern

Senior CareGiver

You will be expected to work 10 hours per week on your Senior CareGiver duties. You will have 8 hours scheduled in two regular 4 hours shifts (e.g. Tuesday Morning and Thursday afternoon). The remaining two hours will be to use at your convenience to respond to clients, caregivers and cover any supervisions etc that cannot be arranged within your regular shifts.

We would expect you to check messages and respond to your clients or CareGivers on a daily basis Mon to Friday you should keep this to within working hours (if anyone needs anything out of hours that is what our on call service is for).

CareGiver

It is up to you to set your availability, this will dictate the amount of hours of work that you are able to do on a regular basis and therefore how much you can earn.

Pay and Remuneration
You will be paid a salary for your Senior CareGiver role and paid hourly for care hours.

Senior CareGiver Salary - £6,240 (£23k pro rata full time equivalent)

CareGiver Hours - you will be paid at the standard rate for a CareGiver
