Auburn Mere is looking for a kind, caring, compassionate and hardworking person to join our team as a Support Worker / Care Assistant. We welcome any new starters into care as we will provide your training to become a qualified support worker. A QCF Level 2 or 3 isn't required but beneficial. We welcome applicants who can do days or nights or both.
The shifts include:
7:30am-7:30pm / 7:30am - 1:30pm / 1:30pm - 7:30pm or nights 7.30pm - 7.30am
Weekend and night pay incentives applies.
The key object of a support worker is to ensure that the physical, emotional and psychological need of the residents are met.
Daily Main Duties
- To look after the physical, emotional, cultural and social needs of the resident’s using a person centred approach.
- To observe and promote the residents choice, independence, dignity, privacy, fulfilment and other rights
- To create and maintain good professional relationships with resident and their family and friends
- To actively support other support workers
- To adhere to all regulatory and statutory obligations and policies, procedures and guidelines
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Care Provision
To provide personal care and support to residents with a wide range of needs, illnesses and disabilities
To know and understand the care and support of the residents
To undertake the tasks detailed in the residents care and support plan using a person-centred approach and in the least intrusive way
To encourage the independence and motivation of the residents
To provide input into the care and support plans of residents
To assist residents in all aspects of their needs and daily living i.e. getting up in the morning and going to bed at night, assist residents to wash, bath and shower etc
To prepare food and drink for residents being aware of their choice, likes/dislikes, nutritional needs and cultural requirements
To provide light general household domestic duties, including housework and laundry, as detailed in the care plan or instructed by Management
To use manual handling equipment safely and correctly
To take responsibility for the safe handling of property and equipment
To maintain good communication and develop effective working relationships with Clients and the team
To provide companionship to the residents, actively talking and listening to them about their interests
To ensure that the living environment for the residents is as safe as possible whilst respecting the residents choice and rights
Recording and Reporting
To maintain detailed accurate records of the resident
To regularly read care plans, acknowledging changes
To protect the confidentiality of all information relating to the residents and not divulge information to anyone who is not authorised to receive it
To recognise the signs of abuse and immediately report abuse or suspected abuse to a Manager
To report any complaints to the Manager
General
To dress appropriately and use personal protective equipment
To seek out best practice and look at innovative ways to improve the quality and efficiency of the care delivered
To attend and participate in regular staff team meetings
To attend in house and external training reagent to your job role
To observe all health & safety rules, report any concerns to the manager and to record in the maintenance book and take reasonable care to promote health and safety
Any other duties requested by Management, which are within the scope of the post
