Our Home in Hasland is a purpose-built home providing care for up to 40 residents. Hasland is a lovely old market town, situated close to the centre of Chesterfield, just a few miles from the Peak District National Park.
Our staff here at Hasland strive to preserve and maintain the dignity, individuality and privacy of all residents. We also have a CQC rating of 'Good'.
We are searching for an experienced Care Assistant to join our hard working, fast paced team. The successful candidate must hold relevant qualifications, be flexible and able to work Bank Holidays and Christmas when required and to cover staff holidays.
36 Hours per week
£10.65 - £10.90 depending on qualifications and completion of mandatory training
Care Assistant
To share with other staff, in meeting the personal care needs of residents in a way that respects the dignity of the individual and promotes independence. You are to help in the care of the resident’s physical environment and in the general day-to-day activities of the home.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist residents who need help with dressing, undressing, bathing and the toilet. Residents must never be left unattended in the shower or bath.
- Help residents with mobility problems and other physical disabilities, including incontinence; help in use and care of aids and personal equipment.
- Help in the promotion of mental and physical activity of residents through talking to them, taking them out, sharing with them in activities such as reading, writing, hobbies and recreations.
- Make and change beds; tidy rooms, empty commodes.
- Collect soiled linen and deliver to the laundry, inspect, launder and mend resident’s clothing.
- Set tables and trays; serve meals; feed residents who may need help; prepare light meals and wash up; tidy and clear the dining room.
- Answer emergency bells; the door and the telephone; greet visitors.
- Monitor residents’ health and wellbeing and report any concerns to the nurse in charge. Read and write reports; take part in staff and residents’ meetings and in training activities as directed.
- Accompany residents on travel to and from the nursing home as and when necessary.
- Carry out all required safety precautions, fire drills, moving and handling, food hygiene practises as required and after receiving appropriate instruction and mandatory training.
- Any other duties as may be necessary to ensure the smooth running of the Nursing Home.
EXTRA DUTIES
- To maintain personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the job,participate in appropriate training activities and encourage and support staff in their development and training.
- To undertake such other duties, Mandatory training and/or hours of work may be reasonably required and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility of this job.
- To undertake health and safety duties commensurate with the post and/or as detailed in the Directorate’s Health and Safety Policy.
