We are seeking a Care and Support Assistant to make a real difference to the lives of our residents, building strong relationships, encouraging independence and helping them to achieve their life goals.


Our Redcar and Cleveland Services support adults with learning disabilities and mental health issues. We aim to encourage our service users to make their own life choices, with an emphasis on dignity, privacy, respect and independence at all times. As a Care and Support Assistant you will build long lasting, positive, relationships with our residents and wider team to enable you to provide personalised support to our residents. Your excellent communication and creative problem solving skills will be invaluable in understanding our residents’ life goals and supporting them to achieve these ambitions.

The role of Care and Support Assistant will include:

  • Providing a high quality, personalised, care and support service
  • Supporting residents to lead fulfilling lives, understanding their goals and encouraging and supporting residents to achieve these
  • Encouraging residents to develop their daily living skills such as cooking, cleaning, shopping
  • Assisting residents to become a part of the wider community, by facilitating regular social and leisure activities and opportunities
  • Delivering expert support to residents including some personal care, whilst ensuring their privacy, dignity and independence is maintained
  • Promoting safe practices, under taking risk assessments and implementing safeguarding principles to ensure the safety of our residents

Skills and experiences:

  • Experience of working in a similar, support related role is desirable, however, candidates with enthusiasm, a real passion for the role and a willingness to learn, are encouraged to apply, as we are committed to delivering a tailored training programme
  • The ability to work on your own initiative, sourcing innovative solutions to enhance the independence of residents
  • Experience of motivating and encouraging individuals to reach their goals
  • Enthusiastic and flexible with a strong “can-do” attitude
  • Strong organisational skills as well as functional literacy and numeracy
  • NVQ 2 in Health and Social Care, or willing to work towards
