Our Cardiology services, which are some of the most advanced in the country, cover a range of services including our acute cardiology ward, angiography suite and our coronary care unit which is the PPCI Centre for Norfolk. In addition to this we are the Norfolk Heart Attack Centre.

We are incredibly lucky to have a department with a large non-invasive workload including Ambulatory monitoring, pacemaker and loop recorder follow-up and echocardiography (TTE, TOE, stress echo and congenital heart disease). With new space being created by the £15 million spend on our new IRU unit and a complete refurbishment of the cardiac catheter labs; the department is going from strength to strength.

As a Cardiographer you will be expected to perform resting ECGs and fit a number of different types of cardiac monitoring. Training will be given. The role will involve patient contact including giving a brief explanation of any investigation to be undertaken. In outpatient clinics, the fitting of ambulatory ECG and BP monitors.

You will also assist in the Cardiology dept, chaperoning patients, dealing with all clerical work pertaining to the above investigations, including accurate data input to IT systems and recording of work performed. You will assist the specialist physiologists in order to prepare the patient for other cardiology investigations.

  • To undertake a range of non-invasive cardiology investigations.
  • To give patients clear instruction prior to undertaking procedures.
  • To ensure all patients receive appropriate and individualised care.
  • To maintain standards of technical competency in the provision of all non-invasive technical cardiology procedures.
  • To process ECG request forms on arrival in the department.
  • To perform the recording of ECGs on adults, paediatrics, outpatients and inpatients in a variety of departments, including NICU, CCC and labour wards as requested.
  • To set up, fit and instruct patients on how to use ambulatory ECG and blook pressure monitors and download recordings to ensure they are ready for analysis.

  • To assist the clinical teams working in echocardiography and CRM to ensure a smooth running of the service, by meaning of preparing patients ready for their clinical investigation.
  • To effectively, promptly and professionally respond to emergency situations, summoning appropriate assistance as necessary by raising the alarm.
