Assist with the preparation of cancer patients for MDT discussion and undertake data collection and validation for the national cancer audits and data submissions.

All new staff will be subject to a probationary period covering their first six months in post. Travel between hospital sites may be required.

- To support the active pathway management of each patient referred with suspected cancer throughout their journey, recording data and escalating issues to help ensure that clinicians see, diagnose and treat patients within the given timescales and that all required information is recorded and tracked using the Somerset Cancer Register
- Monitoring patients on a 2ww patient without a first appointment and supporting resolution to any issues through liaising with the relevant administrative staff or Specialty Managers, escalating any specialities that may have potential breaches
- Monitor and validate daily patients on a 2ww pathway, entering any breach reasons onto the cancer register and liaising with the relevant departments when this information is not readily available
- To be responsible for identifying and escalating potential breaches of the cancer waiting times targets to both the Cancer Services Manager and cancer team using the breach escalation guidelines
- To identify areas where delays repeatedly occur to the Cancer Services Manager so that opportunities for service development/new ways of working can be addressed
- To assist the MDT coordinators in the preparation of information for the weekly Patient tracking List (PTL) meetings, including attending these meetings when required and taking or escalating the necessary actions afterward
- To assist the MDT coordinators in the preparation of patients for discussion at cancer weekly multidisciplinary meetings (MDT) as per MDT operational policy if needed
- To assist the MDT coordinators in compiling any relevant documentation required for the MDT meetings
- To liaise and communicate effectively with named MDT coordinators in other Trusts to ensure the efficient transfer of patients including sending Inter Provider Trust forms (IPTs) with any relevant radiology, histology reports and clinic letters
- To regularly action receipt of specific results emails from other Trusts, by updating the SCR and presenting to the relevant MDT co-ordinator (BHODS)
- To ensure the NHS Cancer Reform Strategy cancer waiting times data for the 14, 28, 31 and 62 day targets is collected, monitored and performance managed prospectively for reporting on a weekly basis
- Run data quality reports for the national cancer audits, CWT and COSD and complete any missing data items on the Somerset Cancer Registers
- To update patient records on the cancer register with any subsequent treatments that have received for their cancers whether that is surgery, radiotherapy or chemotherapy so that they can be monitored against the 31 day subsequent treatment targets
- To carry out any other duties as required by the post as directed by the Assistant/ Service Manager.
