Job Title: Campus Ambassador
Reporting to: HR Consultant, Early Careers
Locations: We are currently recruiting for campus ambassadors for the 2023/2024 academic year at the following universities:
Birmingham, Bristol, Cambridge, Durham, Exeter, Kings College London, Lancaster, Leeds, Leicester, LSE, Manchester, Nottingham, Oxford, Queen Mary University of London, UCL and Warwick
Hours of work: Hours will be flexible around studies and dependent on timeframes for events, key promotional periods, application deadlines and other key deadlines. (Campus Ambassador activity will be higher during peak recruitment season with ambassadors spending up to 2-3 hours per week assisting with promotions however activity will be reduced down at other times within the academic year).

Mandatory training day (in person ): 30th August 2023 (Ashurst offices)
Role Overview:
- Here at Ashurst we know that providing an excellent quality experience for undergraduates who are interested in a legal career is a corner stone of our Early Careers strategy. As such we're looking for pro-active, driven and organised individuals to represent Ashurst on your University campus. This includes promoting training contract and vacation scheme opportunities, managing relationships within University societies, advertising Ashurst to potential law and non-law students and to assist with distribution of marketing material at your university. You may also be required to attend events, subject to your workload and university timetable. The role will give you a unique insight into the firm and chance to work directly with out Early Careers Team.
Salary:
- Ambassadors will be paid a competitive salary of £600 throughout the academic year. You will receive £300 after your first academic term in 2023 and you will receive the remaining £300 at the end of your second academic term in Spring 2024. This is subject to ambassadors attending all briefings, end of term catch ups and providing timely updates on their progress.
What will you be doing?
- Promoting key programs - You will be the primary point of contact between Ashurst and applicants at your university and will be responsible for advertising our key dates and upcoming events.
- Event organisation and management - Organising and managing Ashurst specific events aimed at undergraduate law and non-law students through key methods, which includes taking responsibility for hosting, advertising and managing any events or sessions either virtual or in person.
- Society Engagement - Liaise with the relevant careers services, law and non-law university societies to ensure Ashurst events are being advertised effectively. Being proactive in broadening our network to a wider and more diverse group of potential applicants.
- Social Media Presence: Actively engaging with Social media on behalf of Ashurst, such as sharing relevant posts/content from the Ashurst Graduates Facebook page.
- Marketing material distribution - Distribute any marketing materials to students on campus, this will be primarily digital due to our sustainability aims.
- Market Research - Seek regular feedback from students on events and marketing material to gauge effectiveness and to see how we could improve.
What do we expect from you?
- Attend a virtual briefing at the beginning of each term with all Ashurst Campus Ambassadors across the UK to learn about key dates and upcoming events with the firm.
- Proactively take responsibility to work with Ashurst's Campus Action Teams, University Societies and events providers to arrange attraction events and provide marketing materials.
- Keep a log of your Campus ambassador activity, what works well, and what needs improvement, and report this back to Early Careers at the end of each term
- Attend an end of term catch up with a Early Careers to provide an end of term report and your activity log so we can review our strategy for the following terms.
- Abide by the key values of Ashurst, our brand messages and the 5 focus areas in the Campus Ambassador Expectation Framework.
- Provide a professional and reliable face for Ashurst amongst your University cohort as well as an organised and proactive contact for Ashurst Early Careers team members.
Essential skills and experience
- Penultimate year law student and non-law at one of the aforementioned universities during the 2023/2024 academic year (you must attend the university you wish to represent).
- Averaged a 2:1 in first year
- Demonstrates a strong interest in the firm and will be able to answer questions from students.
- Has good commercial awareness and understanding of the law
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A proactive self-starter.
- Well organised and efficient, using initiative to manage own workload, especially at busy times.
Recruitment Process

- Completion of our gamified Cognify and Emotify tests (candidates will have one week to complete these)
- Virtual interview with a member of the Early Careers Team including a 30 minute pitch as to how you would advertise the firm on campus.
