We are looking for a Café Host / Food and Beverage Assistant for our Café at the Xcel Sport and Leisure Centre. You and your colleagues will set the scene to deliver a truly memorable customer experience. We want everyone who visits to be treated as an individual, and for our staff to take immense pride in delivering a warm and welcoming personalised service.

You will work as a small team ensuring our customers experience the ‘wow factor’ every time they visit.

Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Delivering the highest levels of customer service.
  • Having excellent product knowledge and confidence to link sell, up sell and promote additional food and drink items.
  • Preparing and serving food and drinks as required.
  • Operating the till in line with cash handling procedures.
  • Maintaining health, safety and cleanliness standards.

We are looking for someone who has experience in a customer facing role preferably in hospitality, but above all what’s important to us is your eagerness to learn and deliver exceptional customer service.

The principal place of employment will be The Xcel Sport and Leisure Centre which has free on-site parking and good public transport links from the Coventry city centre.

Shifts are variable covering evenings and weekends (3 – 4 hours per shift.

Job Description

Scope

Coventry Sports Foundation and Culture Coventry Trust are operating as CV Life, so that the scope of this Job Description as a CV Life document extends to cover the employment contracts held with either Coventry Sports Foundation or Culture Coventry Trust.

Overall purpose and objective of the role:

To ensure that Café/Bar Services provided by the Foundation meet the demands and requirements of Centre Users, whilst Company Policies are being adhered to and Service Expectations are being met.

Main duties of the role:

  • To provide a front-line service function in terms of Cofa’s Café/Bar serving Drinks & Snacks.
  • To be involved in cash handling procedures and responsible for Till Balances.
  • To ensure the Café/Bar and associated areas are cleaned and maintained to the standards laid down in Company Procedures, Health and Safety, and Food Hygiene Regulations.
  • To maintain all storage areas in a clean & tidy condition and ensure Café/Bar is stocked as directed, bearing in mind stock rotation.
  • To ensure sufficient stock is held in store to service Café/Bar requirements.
  • To ensure products for sale are displayed in the advised manner.
  • To complete daily bar diary and file in the advised place.
  • To liaise with the Centre Manager regarding any Extraordinary Requirements.
  • To complete weekly line cleaning.
  • To complete Monthly Stocktaking.
  • To be responsible for the Centre’s Vending Operation.
  • To ensure legal requirements in terms of display and allergies are observed.
  • To ensure a high standard of customer care is maintained at all times, responding to customer enquires in line with Customer Policies.

  • Level 2 Award in Allergy Awareness.

Essential Special Skills

  • Ability to work unsupervised.
  • Communication skills.
  • Customer Service Skills.

Special Circumstances

  • Ability to work unsociable hours including evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays.
  • Ability to travel between sites.
  • Interest in working with underrepresented and disadvantaged community groups/individuals.
