Job Title: Café Assistant (Zero hours)
Responsible to: Operations Manager / Deputy Catering Manager
Location: Café 1850
ROLE SUMMARY
Working as part of our customer-facing team you will ensure that high quality and great value food and drink are prepared and served to café and catering customers from a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.
MAIN DUTIES
· To prepare the café and catering areas ready for service.
· To prepare simple food dishes, working to set guidelines.
· To prepare hot and cold refreshments, including speciality barista coffees.
· To facilitate in creating an engaging, welcoming and comfortable environment with high standards of cleanliness and excellent customer service.
· To comply with food safety and food hygiene and other associated policies.
· To replenish and restock café and catering areas.
· Undertake all mandatory training required of the role.
· To complete all end of day tasks to a high standard including cleaning of café and catering areas.
· To assist with events which could include conferences and celebrations
SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE/SKILLS
Individuals will be required to demonstrate that they have the necessary knowledge, skills and attributes to undertake this role with competence and confidence.
Essential (minimum requirements)
· Experience in a customer focussed setting.
· An understanding of food safety and food hygiene.
· GCSE Maths
· A demonstratable appreciation for the values of the organisation and ethos.
Desirable Knowledge/Experience
· Food Hygiene Level 2
· Barista experience.
· Hospitality industry experience.
Skills
· Able to multi task in a busy environment.
· Working as part of a small team.
· Excellent communication skills.
· Good mental arithmetic.
· Excellent time management.
