Located in a lovely grade two listed barn alongside the beautiful green in East Dean on the South Downs, Hikers Rest is a vibrant and busy cafe serving light lunches, brunches, coffee, cake, cream teas and other treats. With over 78 covers, 40 inside, 20 on a terrace and 18 on the green the cafe is fully accessible and attracts a wide range of custom from the local community, walkers and those visiting the area for the first time. Now under new management we are looking to add to our enthusiastic team.
Job description
We are looking for a hard working and personable cafe assistant to join our team at Hikers Rest for weekend shifts over the summer.
All duties involved in running the cafe are required including making coffees and other drinks, serving customers, waiting on tables, washing up and cleaning.
The cafe is open seven days a week and has more than 70 covers. It is often very busy even off season so whilst experience is important so is a strong work ethic, enthusiasm and being great with customers.

Due to Covid 19 we have stopped selling gifts at the cafe and focused just on the cafe. We have spaced out tables more and introduced a one-way system. We are following track and trace protocols and are respectful of customers at all times.
