About Milk Shed Café
The Milk Shed Café opened in April 2021. We are a Scandi inspired Café and Coffee Shop. We serve Scandi influenced breakfast and lunches and a counter offering of sweet and savoury bakes. We serve speciality coffee, tea and hot chocolate.
We are situated at the top of Hadleigh Road on the outskirts of Sproughton. Our converted cowshed is a beautiful space to work in and for customers to relax and enjoy our delicious food and drink. We have outside seating in our courtyard as well as inside seating.
Our vision is to bring the Swedish ritual of Fikato Suffolk and to make this a simple part of everyday life in our community. To provide our customers and employees an excellent customer experience that is welcoming and engaging.

About this Role
We are searching for enthusiastic and energetic Café Assistant who is a team player, a hard worker, good communicator and has a passion for café life. This is an all rounder Café Assistant role. To deliver excellent customer service and work well with the team to create a friendly, warm and welcoming environment. The ideal candidate has a positive attitude, is passionate about the food and beverage industry and enjoys working with people. You will have the opportunity to be part of fun atmosphere in a small and passionate team.
It’s a varied role and you will need to be able to multi-task and be responsible for a range of tasks in what can sometimes be a busy environment. You will be pot washing, clearing table, serving food and drink, replenishing stock, unpacking deliveries, cleaning the cafe and interacting with customers in the café and behind the counter. Not essential but great if you have barista experience with speciality coffee. As a small team we each have our own responsibilities for every shift, but we pitch in with other tasks when needed to get the job done.
Position
Reporting to the Café Manager who is the co-owner.
Main Tasks
· Responsibility for washing of all pots, pans, crockery and cutlery used in the preparation, cooking and serving of food (we have a commercial dishwasher) and putting everything away.
· Clear crockery and cutlery from tables and clean tables when the customer has finished or left.
· Serving food and drink to customers at their tables.
· Preparing tea, coffee and cutting cakes in preparation to serve to customer (barista experience with speciality coffee not essential but desirable).
· Helping out in the kitchen and counter with day to day tasks.
· Unpacking deliveries into the storeroom.
· Ensure the café is set-up and ready for customers to arrive (where applicable).
· Replenish any items that are needed throughout the day.
· Speak and interact with our customers in the café and behind the counter including taking orders on our Point of Sale till system.
· Sweep and mop floor after spillages during the day.
· Clean the café tables, chairs, empty bins, hoover and wash floor ready for next day.
· Deliver excellent customer service with an attention to detail, meeting their needs.
· Follow health and safety guidelines.
Skills/Qualifications/Person Specification
· Hospitality experience desirable
· Excellent customer service skills
· Numerate and literate

· Understanding of food hygiene

Physical Requirements
The job is physically demanding. You will be required to stand for extended periods of time.
The café is open Wednesday to Sunday, 9-3 (230 on Sunday). Some weekend work is required.
