Brief Description
Our Design team is expanding to meet the demand brought about by our continued success in project delivery and is looking for talented people from all backgrounds to join our journey and move us forward. Our team deals with projects such as power supply upgrades, critical power systems, electric vehicle charging, signalling power renewals, and traction power upgrades, all the way through to station refurbishments.
As a CAD technician your duties will include red-line mark-up drawing amendments, on-site survey/scanning, and document management. This would be an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate with possibilities for future development.
Our team has doubled in the past few years and our capability has expanded to include specialist capabilities such as in-house LiDAR scanning, training in this technology has allowed our technicians to manipulate data to aid designs contributing to a marked increase in accuracy and productivity. About the role (External)
What will you be doing?
CAD projects are performed within the Autodesk suite with our projects completed in AutoCAD and our 3D data converted within Autodesk RECAP. Knowledge of other CAD programs such as MicroStation, SolidWorks, Blender, and SketchUp though not directly applicable is appreciated within our CAD environment.
- Manage existing and incoming CAD data, external drawing requests and photographic records both in hard and soft formats in a structured manner, to manage the availability of latest revision data, with superseded data appropriately archived.
- Prepare scheme diagrams, and conceptual and detailed plans, for inclusion in reports, contract documentation, and presentation to external bodies.
- Provide professional advice on data transfer standards and systems, for inclusion in the contract documentation.
- Assist CAD team in the circulation of the Projects CAD Procedures to suppliers, consultants, and contractors
Essential
- Good CAD skills and engineering knowledge.
- Relevant successful experience using MicroStation or AutoCAD.
- Good communication skills.
- Good desk top software skills.
Desirable
- Knowledge of OS Digital Mapping formats.
- Railway experiences
- Point Cloud Experience

We adhere to a structured pay framework, any salary offered will be within the following pay range: Band 6 starting salary of £25,000 and raising to £30,000.
