WHAT TO EXPECT
As a Building Information Modelling (BIM) / Computer Aided Design (CAD) Engineer you will support our growing Infrastructure Engineering department achieve its digitisation goals. Involved in all aspects of Digitisation, across all sites and supporting the MI Engineers in planning their works and ensuring robust design integration into the wider technologies.
As a new role, your will help create, develop, and implement the new processes into our MI Teams and assist in influencing our designs to improve coordination, reduced costs and coordinate our complex projects. Your CAD skills will be invaluable in converting initial ideas into tangible models, in support of our early-stage procurement processes. We also have significant legacy assets which will need to be converted to the new digital format to assist our projects.
The role is UK Midlands based but to support delivery, some UK and potentially, international travel will be expected as the need arises.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
Assist in the development of and input to all elements of Manufacturing Infrastructure scheme design and layout solutions.- Support the MI Eng in coordinating scheme designs to minimise Safety, Timing and Cost risks.
- Create robust working relationships with key design stakeholders.
- Steer and influence the GME Engineers in achieving “World Class” Safety / Layout Coordination
- Assist in establishing the “next phase” of our BIM journey, working closely with our central BIM/Standards team. Assist in implementing the next phase, awareness, training, and hardware.
- Assist the Pre-Con lead in development of robust safety review, and layout Risk Assessments. Offering alternative solutions and influencing where practical.
- Assist the wider team with visualisation / feasibility studies, and present accordingly to all levels.
- Support Feasibility reviews, including scoping site visits.
- Assist in the production of Planning Application drawings and supporting documents (with external support as required).
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Advanced Revit modelling capability.- Intermediate-Advanced with Autodesk AutoCAD.
- Intermediate-Advanced with Navisworks
- Experience using Autodesk ReCap.
- Experience using CDE’s during a project lifecycle.
- Understanding of ISO 19650 and its application.
- Ability to analyse and assess complex issues and provide recommendations.
- Ability to lead review sessions with broad stakeholder groups.
- Understanding of construction and industrial fit-out works including safe working practices.
- Support site installation teams during build/installation phase.
- Preferably Qualified to Degree level
- Beneficial to have vehicle / manufacturing process knowledge – but not essential.
- Clear understanding of the Construction Design & Management Regs (CDM) and the associated safety implications of the proposals generated – Work closely with the Principal Designers
- Awareness of Building Control and basic Building designs standards.
