By working within the telecommunications sector, as a fibre cable puller, you will be responsible for installing the core cables that connect the surrounding areas via the overhead and underground network. You will be installing these cables by demonstrating a variety of skills such as pulling, fixing and testing.
By working under a cabling supervisor and in unison with others, you will be required to accurately carry out your tasks in a timely, safe, and amiable manner. In order to safely deliver network infrastructure, it is vital that you understand and follow safety instructions, adequately analyse risks, and comply with the regulatory guidelines.
The company can provide you with full equipment, a van and fuel or you can come with your own equipment, van and fuel. You will be provided with a rates card depending on what way you choose. It is a Monday to Friday role with 40 hours per week and overtime is permitted.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Fibre cable pulling, fixing and testing
- Using openreach standards installation & test equipment
- Working safely according to National Roads and Street Works Act - Including Signing, Lighting and Guarding, Safe Working Practices, Personal Safety and Gas Testing
- Ensuring all activities are carried out in line with Health and Safety standards
- Carrying out daily checks to ensure that equipment is safe to use
- Completing and updating internal and external databases to record actions and daily whereabouts
- Self-auditing work to ensure it meets the company and client standards
- Delivering a high-quality and professional service
- Maintaining a clean and tidy work environment at all times
- Working in all weather conditions
The compulsory skills we require you to have include:
- Profound knowledge and experience for at least 1-2 years within the telecommunications sector.
- A full UK drivers licence, held for at least 6 months with less than 6 points.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Safety at Street Works and Road Works (Code of Practice)
- Site set-up responsibility, with NRSWA compliance. Supervise any Traffic Management requirements.
- Understanding permit/noticing requirements and ensuring these are adhered to.
- Early identification of site issues. Promoting near-miss and positive intervention reporting.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Having a good work ethic, a willingness to find solutions to problems and having skills and expertise in network and communications.
- Being able to start early between the time of 07:30 am to 08:00 am
We require you to have the following accreditations:
- Overhead safety - Accreditation SA001
- Underground safety - Accreditation SA002
- One fibre network - Accreditations N23, N27, N28
- Hand rodding in the UG network - Accreditation K8

Contract length: SELF-EMPLOYED for 1 year

Salary: It depends on the amount of work completed but approximately £2,000 can be expected.
