BUYER / EXETER - PERMANENT VACANCY

Location: Skypark, Exeter - near Exeter Airport

Reporting to: Senior Buyer

Hours: Monday to Friday 08:00am - 16:30pm OR Monday to Friday 08:30am - 17:00pm

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 per annum

Hawk 3 Talent Solutions, operating as an employment agency, are currently recruiting for a Buyer for our client based in Exeter on a permanent full time contract.

This role is accountable for all aspects of purchasing, ranging from the sourcing of new supplies, contract negotiation and monitoring adherence to service level agreements including expediting. You will work in partnership with the manufacturing management team ensuring stock availability to allow production to be optimized and with the new product development team to ensure the timely introduction of new ranges.

Main duties & responsibilities:

Coordinate and manage all purchasing activity across a specific range of products and supplies to include developing and maintain close relationship with the supply base

In conjunction with the development department, contribute to new product ideas and concepts, including technical and aesthetic specification and ensure that launch dates and costing targets are met

Responsible for the sourcing and development of new suppliers to meet the ongoing needs and future development of the business

Responsible for the maintain availability of all component parts required for production facility and for ensuring that stock levels of finished products are maintained to enable an 'ex stock' service to customers

Use of Sage MRP system and monitoring changes in demand and seasonal trends

Responsible for contract and commercial agreement negotiation, monitoring of supplier delivery and quality performance in order to ensure that the most appropriate suppliers are being used by the business

Manage a VA and VE cost reduction program for a specific range of products and supplies, this may include sourcing new suppliers, negotiation with existing suppliers and will involve working closely with the development and production departments

Business travel will be a requirement of this position

About you:

Computer literate with strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Purchase Order Processing and MRP systems

Experience from within a manufacturing environment is essential and an engineering background would be advantageous

Flexible and able to manage your own portfolio of products

Proven track record of working alongside a new product development team

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Strong negotiation skills

Ability to travel independently and frequently
