The role
As a Buyer, you will have a role that is out of the ordinary. Mission Systems enable our customers to deliver their mission, through our products and solutions, using intelligence and analysis and delivering critical communication services. Our aim is to be at the centre of our customers' modern digital backbone by connecting and delivering sensors, decision support, and air effectors across military and business domains.
Day to day, you will help generate significant value for the business by reducing the total cost of bought in goods and services and manage supplier relationships to increase the overall value derived from the supply chain.
- Prepare, issue and review supplier RFQ’s, recommending preferred options to the relevant stakeholders
- Converting purchase requisitions to purchase orders and issuing to suppliers, negotiating appropriate T&C’s for the protection of the organisation
- Manage and develop supplier relationships
- Pro-active supplier order book management activities
Essential experience of the Buyer,
- Must have a flexible approach to workload, confident reading and understanding technical drawings and ability to communicate complex requirements to/from supply chain.
- Ability to establish strong relationships with key stakeholders across the business
- Must have a good understanding of complex manufacturing processes and principles
- Must be self-motivated with a flexible approach to workload
- A good understanding of the Company business and objectives
- Working knowledge of and experience in Microsoft Excel, Word, Power point and IFS (desirable)
The role is full time at thirty-seven hours per week. This position has a hybrid working arrangement of one to two days a week on-site, with the remaining to be completed from home.
Qualifications for the Buyer,
- A recognised degree level qualification and/or relevant engineering/supply chain/lean culture experience.
- Membership of a relevant professional body, e.g. CIPS at level Four or above
- Procurement experience, ideally in an operational procurement environment
- Experience in sourcing new materials and services
The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance level for this role.
