Job description
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) is a national organisation that was established in 2021 to help protect the UK from infectious diseases and other public health threats. The agency was formed by merging several existing organisations, including Public Health England and NHS Test and Trace, to create a more coordinated and streamlined approach to public health.
The UKHSA's mission is to provide leadership, expertise, and coordination in the prevention, preparedness, and response to public health threats. This includes monitoring and analysing public health data, conducting scientific research, and developing strategies and plans to prevent and control outbreaks of infectious diseases.
The agency also works closely with other government agencies, healthcare providers, and international organisations to share knowledge and best practices, and to coordinate responses to global health threats.
One of the key functions of the UKHSA is to operate a network of microbiology laboratories across the UK. These laboratories provide diagnostic testing and surveillance for a wide range of infectious diseases, including COVID-19. The laboratory network is staffed by a team of highly trained scientists and technicians, who work together to provide accurate and timely test results to support public health decision-making.
Main ResponsibilitiesThe role is inclusive of, but not limited to:
- Call handling
- Managing a high volume inbox, escalating all queries quickly and effectively
- Data Input of confidential information.
- Data processing and analysis of Health Protection Data sets.
- General administration on behalf of the team
- Ensure that all associated administration duties are carried out in line with company procedures.
- Support wider colleagues to ensure efficient services within the team.
- Work independently on a hybrid basis, with travel to the Colindale Office twice a week.
Personal Specification:
- Significant experience in a fast paced administrator role
- Significant experience with inbox management and general team administration
- Experience working with a large team, managing workload and day to day operations
- Comprehensive knowledge and regular use of Microsoft Office Applications including Excel Outlook, Word, PowerPoint,
- Good verbal and written communication skills including the ability to produce effective and clear written communications to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Attention to detail, and experience completing tasks independently to a very high and accurate standard.
This is a temporary role, until 31/12/2022, with potential extension into 2023.
