Position: Business Intelligence Analyst

Reporting line: Reporting to IT Manager

Basis: Full Time

The opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to fill a newly created position in our Small high functioning IT Team at Pattersons Head Bristol Office,

The successful candidate will support the function’s mission to provide timely, accurate and self-service data and reporting to the business. The Analyst will be responsible for developing and delivering reporting frameworks which accommodates the different levels within the organization at a reporting frequency that supports timely decision making.

Also providing further support to the business functions by fulfilling requests in the form of highly usable reports – allowing colleagues to access all the information they require to perform their roles to the best of their ability.

You will support with the delivery of tailored data analysis to key individuals and teams within the organization and the development of reports to colleagues, senior management and Exec team summarising performance measurement versus key measures.

You will provide approachable and professional support for the business systems supporting the IT team in support to colleagues by phone, email and in person with a primary focus on all KPI data requests and have a flair for reporting innovation and support the business by offering training to business units on how best to report their measures and use KPI dashboards efficiently.

What you’ll do on a typical day:

· Gather & Document stakeholder requests

· Analyse complex data from multiple sources and create meaningful analysis.

· Creation of new, complex reports & analysis, and updating existing reports to meet the business needs using PowerBI, SQL, SSRS &Excel.

· Design new data feeds if required as a middle ground for the enrichment of Data (Excel)

· Educate & Train the user community on Analytics

· Working with data consumers (Clients, Finance and Operations) to develop new KPIs that deliver insight and add value to the business performance.

· Develop and maintain data processing routines in support of IT functions.

· Provide expert data analysis with a keen eye for detail and data accuracy

· Proactively engaging with and improving processes and procedures to continuously improve process reliability, accuracy, speed, and the value delivered from insightful data reporting.

What you need to succeed at Pattersons

· A related University degree and/or similar relevant qualification

· Ability to manipulate data using SQL

· Knowledge of BI Visualization tools (Power BI etc.)

· Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel – Essential (Macro’s/VBA)

· Use of SQL to extract/data mine

· 3 years relevant experience

· Strong data presentation and visualisation skills with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Excellent analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail

· Strong excel skills with an emphasis on data analytics and reporting techniques

· Knowledge of SQL essential

· Exposure to a warehouse environment would be advantageous

· Knowledge of Power BI, Power Automate and PowerApps is highly desirable

· Locates, isolates, and recommends fixes for I/O bottlenecks

· Finds problem queries and reports

· Monitors index usage and tunes where appropriate

· Models/implements preventative and proactive monitoring in the database environment

· Collaborates with project teams and assists with design, execution, and implementation of projects requiring database deliverables.

· Assists with the creation, implementation, and enforcement of enterprise standards around database technologies.

· Developing and implementing task centre tasks (alerts, schedules and automations)

· Assist with new project implementation and large data changes

· Back-up for the IT administrator (front line support)

· Solves complex business queries with views of stored procedures

Location and travel

  • Principally based out of Bristol the head office/ with Opportunity for some remote working.
  • Some travel maybe required

Qualifications and skills

  • Academic achievement of Degree or equivalent level
  • A strong appetite for business intelligence and process improvement
  • Natural problem solver, someone who always look to solve problems and improve things
