This isn’t just university! For starters, you’ll be learning in a professional engineering environment as well as in the classroom. You will work with exciting technologies and develop expertise enabling you to grow into a highly capable, multi-skilled mechanical engineer.
This John Crane apprenticeship provides the perfect opportunity to join a high-performing global engineering team, learning great career skills from a global engineering market leader along the way. In partnership with the University of Hertfordshire, you have the opportunity to gain a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering (BEng). The candidate will attend university on day release, with block release weeks at the start and end of each University term.
The successful candidate will learn about the design, engineering, manufacture, assembly and testing of John Crane products. This will involve the use of 3D CAD to design components, using analytical tools such as FEA and CFD, collaborating with other departments on projects ranging from manufacturing, commercial and the operation/design of test rigs just to name a few.
What you'll have:
- Essential: GCSE/Level 2 Maths and English at Grade C/Level 4 or above
- Essential: BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Engineering at DMM to include Distinction in Further Maths unit
- OR A Levels with 112 UCAS points in Maths and either Physics or Technology or Engineering based subjects, excluding General Studies/Critical Thinking
- You will need to demonstrate an enthusiasm for engineering at your interview.
- Strong interest in engineering and innovation.
- Desire to learn to read and understand technical drawings and schematics
- Good communication skills
- Self-starter and self-sufficient - will hit the ground running
