This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team at the heart of Lancashire County Council.
The Business Intelligence team plays a central role in supporting all services across the county council; we provide analyses to develop our understanding of the people who live in Lancashire and insight into Lancashire's economic and cultural landscape; we work closely with all services to develop business critical reports and performance analyses; we also support statutory and regulatory requirements. The team has experts in a broad range of business intelligence techniques, tools and technologies as well as having a deep understanding of the council's functions and services.

This role will be working closely with digital services and primarily Adults and Children's Services but not exclusively.
Job title: Business Intelligence Analyst (Business Intelligence - Reporting team)
The Business Intelligence Analyst post is a dynamic position linking and improving the information provided by Business Intelligence with that used and needed by operational teams in varies services. It involves the gathering of reporting requirements, ensuring the council's core systems and related reporting systems can then deliver on these requirements, alongside the need to fulfil its statutory reporting needs.
The role is based within Business Intelligence and requires the ability to combine datasets and design reporting solutions and then query and interrogate data recording/reporting systems, with an in depth understanding of data analysis, data mining and relational modelling along with knowledge of operational practice with national reporting requirements.
You will:
- be responsible for providing technical expertise and guidance in the development and support of the enterprise-wide business intelligence and reporting suite.
- lead and manage the successful completion of the Council's statutory returns across Children's, Adults and other services within the council and ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
- develop an in-depth knowledge of the wide range of social care and education datasets and sources, including their strengths and limitations, and their ability to meet analytical and statutory objectives
- develop tools and systems for the maintenance, cleansing, retrieval, and manipulation of data.
- ensure the delivery of set tasks on monthly, quarterly, and annually cycles to meet any service level agreements and compliance with statutory requirements.
- responsible for dealing with sensitive, confidential, and person-identifiable data in accordance with legislation and policies.
- be able to manage the work of team members and that of large projects and be a subject matter expert in terms of reporting, data analysis and reporting system
- provide practice-related analysis of management information and ensure any issues are actioned.
- lead on identifying particular areas for targeted support in relation to data quality, ensure core recording systems are design to ensure the correct capture of information and so that they enable easy extraction of information.
