About the role:
The purpose of this role is to support the Business operations team to gather, analyse and present data to effectively monitor and review the product portfolio, to enable presentation to the Digital Resources senior leadership team and with other areas of Jisc. Working closely with colleagues in the Business operations team, and wider product teams in the Digital Resources directorate, you will help build the data narratives that will enable senior managers and colleagues to measure performance of the product portfolio at all stages of the product lifecycle. You will also use your strong communication and interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with key product staff across the directorate.
The Team:
The Digital resources directorate delivers services that support the procurement, licensing, management, discovery and use of content and software for UK further education, higher education and research. Our work areas are divided into three product groups: licensing (content and software), open research, and content and discovery.
Alongside the product groups, we are creating a new business operations team to support our three product groups and deliver on DR and Jisc strategic objectives and drive the directorate forward. This cross-directorate team is responsible for ensuring the directorate as a whole is successful in these key areas: product and portfolio management, stakeholder engagement, service delivery, technology and data.
Responsibilities will include:
- Gather and update the data and information necessary to manage the DR portfolio, using a variety of methods and working with colleagues as necessary. Explore and recommend opportunities for improved collection, analysis, use and presentation of data and information, both within and without DR.
- Combine and process data and information accurately and appropriately to create data sets, reports, etc.
- Analyse the data and information, both quantitative and qualitative, to provide insights of both operational and strategic value to DR, such as important trends and patterns, highlighting gaps and areas of concern or further exploration.
- Develop, launch, maintain and enhance a portfolio of statistically valid, engaging, easy to use and understand visualisations and dashboards to report and monitor on the objectives, key results and metrics of the product portfolio of the Digital Resources directorate using Tableau, Power BI and other data analysis tools. Ensure that the dashboards are quality assured, user focused, automated, reliable and secure.
- Create and maintain project documentation, document methodologies workflows/visualisations and user support materials to agreed standard
Key Skills and Experience:
- Highly effective communication skills (written and verbal) including the ability to explain complex issues to non-expert colleagues and create clear documentation and reports
- Advocate for and deliver improvements for success and challenge orthodoxy.
- Ability to solve problems and resolve issues, plan solutions and make pragmatic decisions
- Experience in producing a wide range of high-quality dashboards and visualisations
- Experience of using data visualisation software such as Tableau or MS Power BI
- Experience of providing specialist advice and guidance to a range of customers and colleagues, including more senior colleagues
