About the role:


You will be reporting into the Business Insight Data Manager, in a team of 11, helping drive data led business decisions and create efficiency in ways of working.


As a Business Insight Data Analyst, you will play a crucial role in enabling data projects across the business. Your primary responsibility will be to assist with producing and maintaining data pipelines across the business to ensure business stakeholders get the information the data they need in a timely fashion to meet their analytical and operational needs.


The role fits into the start of the data life-cycle developing business understanding of problems in relation to corporate data assets then preparing, maintaining and promoting the use and re-use of datasets for analysis and visualization by our growing analyst community.


No day is the same in business insight, as a support service for the entire organization you encounter a diverse set of problems to solve and processes to help improve which may involve occasional travel all over the network from engineering depots to the control centers.

Key responsibilities:


This is a varied and challenging role, but here is a taste of what your day-to-day activities could include:

  • Develop and maintain data pipelines alongside analytical stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely data flow between systems
  • You will engage with stakeholders to understand data and insight requirements
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines to ensure accurate and timely data flow between systems
  • Assist with data processing tasks and designing surveys for data collection
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues within our data stack.
  • Maintain and create interactive Tableau dashboards for data visualisation
  • Stay updated on emerging trends and technologies to continually find new ways to support the analyst community

About you:


You will be enthusiastic about exploring new technologies and continually learning to help BI at Northern to continue leading in analytical techniques. With a passion for building relationships with a wide variety of people from varying levels.


We’re also looking for the following:

  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent experience)
  • 1+ years experience of using data tools (incl. Snowflake, R, MongoDB, Tableau and Alteryx or equivalent) to support and enable value adding data projects.
  • Experience of data analysis and processing
  • Have a high performance and achievement mentality; whilst also being creative and innovative.
  • Be able to use MS Office including MS forms.
  • Experience with the Microsoft Power platform is desirable.
  • Some experience of manipulating datasets and producing visualisations is desirable
