Job Purpose

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for the development of the Safefood360 Business and delivery of revenue growth throughout the EMEA Region.

The focus will be on the commercial growth of all strategic, key/regional and development accounts (brand owners, retailers, manufacturers) within the region as well as the development of new business in Safefood360. The role may also include the regional management of Strategic and other Delivery Partners together with developing active partnerships in the region to ensure that we are delivering overall growth to LGC Assure.

This is a leading role within Safefood360 and will offer the opportunity to have a significant impact on the growth of our business.


Core Responsibilities:

The primary responsibilities of the role will be as follows:

  • Identify and Develop Opportunities – using the Account Opportunity matrix, identify the market opportunities in terms of Strategic; Key; Development and Prospects and then develop these into accounts.
  • Deliver Growth – using the outcome-based account management approach, ensure that outcomes are continually achieved against established objectives.
  • Partner Channel Management – work closely with strategic partners throughout the region to understand market drivers and to deliver business growth. This will include training and coaching for their Account / BDM / Sales Teams on how to sell our products and services, gaining the necessary sales and marketing resource to sell our product set over competitors.
  • Achieving Sales & Revenue Targets – Deliver sales targets.
  • Partnership Management – Working with the Sales & Marketing team, develop a strategy to identify and manage new partnerships that will help grow our brand, engage new customers and add value to our overall customer proposition. Engaging with partners who have a large, relevant, customer base, who would benefit from a partnership with LGC Assure (technology partners, industry bodies, membership associations, etc.).
  • Management Responsibility – As the business grows, the role may acquire a number of direct reports including Key Account Manager(s); regional representatives and administrative support.
Qualifications

Knowledge, Experience and Technical Skills

The job holder will be able to demonstrate the following skills and relevant experience:

  • Experience in business development or similar commercial role specifically in a SaaS business.
  • Good understanding of the food, non-food, supply chain and retail sector.
  • Good understanding & appreciation of the food standards sector.
  • Partner channel management experience would be beneficial.
  • Strategic partnership skills.
  • Account & client management skills.
  • Technical and commercial client relationship management skills.
