The Role:
To generate profitable sales growth within agreed budgeted targets through the development of existing customer relationships and new opportunities, penetrating the market while maintaining a strong contractual relationship with the legacy customer base. To take personal responsibility for the revenue and margin line and its growth as 'The Client' continues to progress strategic growth in conjunction with the 5-year strategic plan.
This high-profile role within 'The Client' forms part of the senior leadership team of the business, working as an integral member charged with driving profitable revenue growth strategies over the medium to long term. They will also work closely with the leadership team and supporting functions to deliver these strategies.
Job Details:
- Create, formulate, and follow dedicated, focused business plans for existing, emerging, and new customer in the defined Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire postcode areas, develop and execute these in line with 5-year long range plan.
- Provide direction and agree annual sales targets for all revenue streams and independent accounts
- Actively develop, manage, and measure performance via KPIs in-line with overall business plans and strategy.
- Develop and implement a business plan that is customer centric, and revenue stream driven for profitable growth.
- Ensure CRM is central all sales activities, including project tracking. KPI’s are set and adhered to as per company direction
- Identify target markets and accounts for developing within those markets that align to the business plan and to the overall strategy for 'The Client'.
- Hold sales budget responsibility for these streams, achieving an aggressive above market growth target per year (including sales volume, value, and profit) by leveraging the strength of the group and the value proposition provided to the market. Responsibility for sales development (top line growth) and for Segment / Product profitability (Gross Margin).
- Provide full and comprehensive commercial reporting as required by the Business. Lead the commercial input for the quarterly forecast meetings.
- Develop best in class work practices within the sales function that report under this role creating a platform of competence that enable for efficient revenue capture process across the product groups.
Improving the customer experience:
- Ensure that the CSI is a key driver in improving service provided to all customers.
- Fully prepared and active customer activity plans for all major accounts.
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of their customers business needs
- Understands the customers markets and strategies
- Work proactively with the marketing, finance and operations teams ensuring that handover of key business development projects to the sales team are managed and co-ordinated effectively.
- Be responsible for the complete analysis of the market environment within the area helping to identify new business opportunities / threats, developing strategy and actions to address any negative trends.
- Conduct daily business with balanced risk whilst strictly observing Business Ethics, Quality and 'the clients ' values.
- Working with the Marketing team, develop knowledge of competitor performance, competitor offerings and in so doing develop strategy and activities for competing with these offerings.
- Manage contract / rebate negotiations and in doing so prepare competitive offerings based upon company pricing structures/policy ensuring appropriate margins are achieved.
- Develop a significant presence in the market working with customers and wider stakeholders to ensure that the Darcica Brand Equity is maximised and developed, thereby assisting with the recruitment of leads/ opportunities. Ensure that the process of lead and opportunity management is aligned to the sales process and recorded within the CRM.
- Work with Group Finance and Credit Control to ensure customer payments are received on agreed dates.
PERSONAL QUALITIES
- Experience of working at a senior level within the commercial function
- Demonstrable understanding of best practice Key Account Management with understanding of latest tools and techniques for value creation through strategic alliance.
- Expert in successfully negotiating with clients to win and deliver profitable business.
- Strong entrepreneurial skills with emphasis on persuader / influencer people management understanding.
- A demonstrable passion for sustainability and the enviroment
- Highly motivated and a proven self-starter whilst working in a demanding and challenging role
- Adaptable and flexible in their work approach
- Efficient and timely at meeting and exceeding sales targets
- Enjoys the challenge of a key account sales environment
- PC literate with knowledge of use of MS office word, excel, PowerPoint etc.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
We anticipate that at times it will be a requirement to travel to roughly to 50% of the time.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Education and Qualification(s)
- Degree or Degree calibre
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a commercial role.
- Proven track record of achieving revenue and margin targets year on year.
- Gained successful experience in managing account sales and marketing initiatives.
- Excellent commercial acumen.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Highly driven self-starter.
- Excellent communicator at all levels.
- Previous experience key account management.
- Demonstrated revenue growth managing a multimillion £ region.
- Commercial acumen with strong understanding of company finances and ability to use this information to drive decision making.
- Detailed knowledge of working in a logistics type business

Salary: £37,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
