Why this job matters
The Business Development Director (Central Government) owns and manages strategic sales activity for a diverse set of BT's central government customers, including those providing Critical National Infrastructure.
In this role, you'll hold accountability for early stage sales activities working over a 1-3 year cycle depending on the specific market and customer procurement processes and their timings. You'll be leading and closing some of BT's biggest opportunities, alongside creating business cases to create and enter new markets.
What you’ll be doing
1. Develops and manages the pipeline of projects in a 1-3 year time-frame, to increase BT's wallet share in high-potential accounts.
2. Builds stakeholder relationships and shapes customers needs.
3. Grows pipeline, identifies specific opportunities to be taken forward, and priorities sales opportunities based on qualification and assessment of resources required, cost of capture and likelihood of success.
4. Takes responsibility for lining up marketing campaigns - who do we target and influence.
5. Looks at segmentation of the market.
6. Develops long lasting relationships and collaborates with the account management and wider business development teams to benefit from shared knowledge and aligned aim and ensure potential opportunities for BT in the market of £10m or above are identified.

What we'd like to see from you
1. Large sales (multi £million) or business case experience within Telco/Technology and public sector, preferably familiar with the government sector.
2. Business acumen: able to identify, influence and deliver the sales strategy and the plan for accounts to defend existing revenues and create profitable revenue growth.
3. Strategic focus: able to engage professionally with senior leads to identify risk, capability gaps, and opportunity to meet strategic ambitions with experience advising if a deal is strategically and financially advantageous or carries too high a risk to drive forward.
4. Negotiation skills: experience of reaching win-win solutions and successfully completing complex negotiations.
5. Relationship and stakeholder management: able to effectively establish communication channels/techniques to influence the wider stakeholder team and experience managing
