As a Business Development Analyst you will play a key role in the growth of the International business following recent contract wins in Italy and Sweden, as well as helping us to further expand our franchise and joint venture businesses. This role will report directly to the Senior Business Development Manager, will be based in our Travel Head Office in London (5 minutes walk from Liverpool St Station) and will likely involve some international travel.

We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our rapidly growing International business within the Business Development function.
What you'll do
- Develop the existing pipeline of opportunities and ensure that internal monitoring documents and intelligence is regularly updated and accurate
- Prepare and maintain detailed market analysis on target channels and countries,
- Identify new opportunities and carry out detailed research to support potential business cases for investment
- Work cross-functionally with other head office teams including Operations, Finance, Marketing, HR, Space Planning and Construction in support of Business Development activity
- Prepare and present briefing documents to key stakeholders within the International Travel business as part of the tender process for new opportunities
- Assist with the completion of formal tender documents and building of robust internal business cases
- Assist with the renewal of existing leases and contracts
- Work closely with the International and Construction teams on the successful delivery of projects.
- Track landlord tenders, contract expiry and business development activity ensuring that WHSmith responds in a timely and professional manner. Influencing teams to ensure deadlines are met, escalating where required
- Maintain the contract register as a single source of the truth for key terms and conditions enabling Head Office teams to maximise the value of the contract
- Co-ordinate the “key account management” plan ensuring that meetings are scheduled in a timely manner, with Agenda’s and Actions issued and tracked, maximising value
- Assess any competitor or market developments in current and target markets which could impact WHSmith profitability
- Lead, support and influence business wide objectives
Who you are
- A understanding of retail whether from a Stores or Head Office perspective and/or business development would be an advantage
- Excellent communication skills
- Self-starter with ability to work under own initiative
- Must be flexible in approach and be able to work within a multi-task environment
- To be a key team player and builder of effective working relationships
- Good time management and planning skills
- Demonstrate a high drive for results
- Strong attention to detail
- The ability to speak foreign languages (eg Spanish, Italian) would be an advantage but is not required
