About the role
We’re looking for an inquisitive and experienced business consultant with significant experience and networks in the social housing sector. This role will be responsible for growing the number of clients we have in this sector and be an trusted advisor to our housing clients.
You will be able to quickly establish rapport with a wide range of clients, diagnose the root causes of challenges they face, and lead small teams to design appropriate, imaginative and realistic solutions – whether technological, organisational or procedural – to support change within a client.
Day to day responsibilities
- Grow the housing sector client base through networking, awareness raising and building new relationships.
- Managing the sales pipeline for housing clients, writing statements of work, responding to tenders keeping in close contact with prospects and clients.
- Partner with existing clients to grow the services they choose with Waterstons to deliver. Continue to develop and maintain strong and trusting relationships with the clients across the you have responsibility for.
- Develop skills of team members and grow the team to allow us to offer the sector specific knowledge to our consulting offer.
- Developing plans and strategies on how Waterstons will engage and grow the sector including annual budgeting and marketing plans.
- This is a senior consulting role, and as such you’ll typically add sector expertise on client projects where others will lead. Occasionally it may be appropriate that you lead projects.
- Conduct analysis to diagnose and quantify root causes from symptoms. Reach out across Waterstons and your wider network to improve this analysis.
- Mentor, support and develop more junior members of the business consulting and wider Waterstons team.
- Apply both business and technology know-how to solving client problems relating to strategy, culture, change management, digital technology, systems, building business cases and innovation.
Some of the skills we are looking for
Essential
- An excellent understanding and be aware of the drivers for the Housing sector
- Ability to talk and use the language that the organisations understand in the Housing sector
- Identify and develop how to pitch Waterstons services in the Housing sector
- Identify potential of services/products that would be beneficial in the Housing sector, that Waterstons currently don’t provide. Work with Waterstons to develop these
- You might not already be a Consultant, you could currently be working in a Housing Association. You’ll be able to demonstrate how you can use your experience to date to transfer into a consulting role.
Nice to have
- A detailed background in one or more aspects of information technology is useful.
- Knowledge of prevailing trends, commercial acumen, and operating drivers across multiple sectors/ industries.
- A detailed understanding of the technical details, strengths and limitations of tech solutions.
- Qualifications in (for example, and not exhaustively): Risk, Change, Project or Programme Management, a CMI consulting qualification (or equivalent), Lean Six Sigma.
- A full UK driving license to facilitate client visits.
