Equans have created a single ERP Shared Line of Service (SLS) with 2 operating domains covering strategic ERP vendors and products, SAP, and Microsoft Dynamics, to lead the way in leveraging and adopting new technologies, tools, techniques, or practices to support and promote the use of ERP systems to extract the maximum value and return on investment.

Its focus is on supporting the business and its users with its strategies, goals, and objectives (a value partner), building an Equans ERP community, providing thought leadership, strategy and direction with aligned roadmaps and templates. Establishing security standards, governance, promoting best practices and providing Strategic Programme / Project Governance and co-ordination.

Its aim is to add value by enabling business productivity through communities, optimising the organisation by mutualising resources with unique knowledge or skills where appropriate, identifying and reducing duplication of effort across initiatives and geographies, leveraging opportunities and synergies for convergence, rationalisation, mutualisation, and driving / supporting transformation.

It manages / provides (as required) Application Managed Services (Functional and Technical) and expertise to support the entities IT teams to run their ERP locally.

As part of the evolution of this service, we are recruiting for an exciting new role of Business Analyst, acting globally across multiple countries and Equans entities identifying business change improvements for the core ERP applications and associated ecosystems.

Reporting to the ERP Shared Line of Service Director, this is a key role with respect to business change, project demand and delivery teams, bridging the gap between business and technical teams.

You will have the opportunity to work on a range of exciting new initiatives across diverse country / business sectors and this role is key to delivering the strategic objectives of the ERP Shared Line of Service. This will include the opportunity to use your skills and experience to shape and influence the future direction and strategy of the SLS and the use of ERP globally within Equans.

We offer a flexible working environment and given the scope of the ERP SLS; some periodic multiple country travel will be required.

Purpose of the Job

To work with various stakeholders (business & IT) to analyse and understand the business problem / requirements and provide potential solutions, acting as the key liaison between the ERP SLS and its internal customers, building strong global networks and relationships within the ERP community and the wider IT and business across multiple entities in different countries.

A key part of the role will be ensuring any ERP related solutions, configurations, deployments etc are aligned with business policy, business rules, design principles and security protocols as defined by the ERP SLS and Group functions (acting as a functional solution architect)

Responsible for understanding the overall business strategy and objectives and how these can be supported and delivered efficiently and effectively through leveraging ERP capabilities (core functionality, modules, add-ons, third party extensions etc) and identifying opportunities to benefit the service, our customers, and the wider business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working with and supporting our internal customers on their requests for change, leading on the documentation of respective and relevant business processes and capturing of requirements, seeking review where appropriate from peers and key stakeholders.
  • When required, working with various senior stakeholders or sponsors in the development of a business/benefits case through provision of impact assessments/costs, considering alternative solutions and related effort, including changes to process/policy/procedure.
  • Proactively contributing to lobbying stakeholders to gain buy-in to the project or initiative and it’s proposed solution.
  • Undertaking suitable challenge to simplify/justify requirements or requests and identify impacts on related processes or integrated applications.
  • Lead and facilitate business requirements gathering and solution workshops with stakeholders, suppliers, and functional/technical subject matter experts as part of project discovery and planning phases.
  • Contribute to the functional review of deliverables involving 3rd parties.
  • Supporting the ERP change & release management processes and the transition into business operation.
  • Supporting our customers in Proof of Concept/Supplier Selection exercises in relation to ERP, extensions, integrations, add-ons etc.
  • Supporting business acquisitions, mergers, transitions, and transformation activities, where required in relation to functional and /or technical usage of ERP technologies. Including but not limited to the integration of Bouygues Energies & Services into Equans.
  • Supporting project teams as required through the design and planning phase of the project and supporting / delivering the creation of the Business Requirements Document (BRD).
  • Updating ERP SLS process & policy documentation as appropriate.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • ERP Products and Ecosystems – Thorough and detailed experience of key SAP and Microsoft products (ERP etc) across core functional domains including Finance, Sales, Field Services, Projects, HR & Payroll, and technical products including newer cloud-based technologies.
  • Leadership – Effective leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and inspire a team of experienced and specialist individuals plus demonstrable experience within complex support and services delivery roles.
  • Stakeholder Management – Ability to understand and manage business / customer stakeholder relationships, their needs, their priorities, and their drivers across a diverse range of multiple entities in different countries.
  • Interpersonal / Relationship Skills – Must have good interpersonal skills and the ability to listen, question and where appropriate challenge stakeholder requirements and build on-going relationships recognising and adapting to local differences (language, process etc).
  • Communication / Documentation – Strong written and verbal communication skills and able to articulate and translate complex technical detail to appropriate audiences (non-technical).
  • Self-Management – Experienced at being highly organised with the ability to work under pressure in a high demand environment.
  • Creativity – Ability to find innovative ways to improve and streamline processes and systems and can look for creative solutions to new business challenges.
  • Organisation – Strong organisational skills with the ability to respect deadlines, plan, and prioritise accordingly.
  • Partner Management – Proven experience and track record of managing multiple outsourced specialist third parties and contractors and associated activities in relation to complex ERP environments including experience of detailed proposal / SoW review and interpretation with an ability to robustly challenge where required to protect the interests of Equans and its internal customers.
  • Analysis / Problem Solving – Ability to logically break down complex problems to identify constituent parts, root causes, and provide comprehensive but pragmatic resolution options.
  • Also has the ability to use a variety of techniques to undertake analyse and deconstruct problems e.g., SWOT, Benefits and Gap Analysis, Requirements prioritisation, process reengineering, business context and data analysis.
  • Process modelling – Document as-is and to-be processes, (in line with BPMN), creating a range of business and ERP specific documentation, with the ability to include user scenarios as required.
  • Facilitation and Elicitation Skills – Must have good facilitation techniques to manage stakeholders at all levels in meetings/workshops and to accurately record agreed outcomes and ensure follow-up activity is tracked and completed.
  • Influencing Skills – Must have negotiation and influencing skills to progress actions/issues and gain agreement/sign-off of deliverables.
  • Methodology – Desirable to have project management experience and exposure to agile ways of working and tools.

Qualifications/Education

  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent with a minimum of 5 years of ERP related experience in a comparable role, preferably in a multi geography environment.
  • Highly desirable – will have or working towards an accreditation in Business Analysis or similar.
  • SAP Certification (functional or technical) highly desirable.
  • Must have business conversational English language competency and business conversational French language competency desirable.
