Description of role:
Reporting to the Risk Operations Team Lead, the Business Analyst will be responsible for the data analysis surrounding the building and implementation of credit models within Investec plc. The role will require a close working relationship with the credit modellers to understand their requirements.
To develop a full gap analysis against existing data.
The role will require an understanding of the quality of existing data and working with the Operations and IT teams to understand what data needs to be remediated.
How to capture data going forward and to spec changes required to be made to systems.
The role will require a close working relationship with the Data Governance Team to ensure it adheres to best practice data governance principles within Investec plc.
This will help to define data definitions and meta data and develop data validation reports to track data quality of credit model data.
What are the specific areas of responsibility?
- As a Data Analyst within credit modelling at IBP, you will work alongside the model implementation team.
- You will be required to collaborate with the credit risk modellers (data scientist), business analyst, data governance and reporting teams across the organisation.
- You will work with analytical teams to understand the data needed to develop and implement credit risk models.
- Translate the data to technical requirements and help develop data pipelines.
- You will work with data exception reports and investigate, evaluate, and feedback any data issues to data owners to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and effectiveness in managing credit risk.
- Collaborate on designing and implementing the bank's default and recovery data strategy, as well as integrating it with credit model development, while enhancing the overall data architecture of the bank.
- The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, effective problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, and a reliable work ethic.
What core skills and knowledge are required ?
- Strong technical, commercial, and practical understanding of PD, LGD, and EAD models and how these models are used for provisioning and capital estimation purposes
- Hands-on experience in programming / coding, primarily in R, SQL and Python, with experience in other programming languages.
- Ability to provide a relevant commercial overlay to data, recognising the bigger picture for different business areas whilst also maintaining a keen eye to detail.
- Experience with the Azure stack (advantageous).
- Understanding of Data Warehousing and meta data.
- Computer literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and PowerBI.
- Ability to understand gaps in current business process and assist in facilitating a programme of improvement.
- Significant documentation and presentation skills, with the ability to prepare high-quality analytical papers / summaries and present these in an effective manner appropriate to the target audience / key stakeholders.
- Experience in communicating complex data analytics and modelling techniques to non-technical key stakeholders, such as senior executives, credit and heads of business areas.
- To act with integrity at all times and embrace the philosophy of treating our customers fairly (compulsory).
Awareness of use and governance of core data fields.
