Research Assistant - Tree Seed Traits
We are seeking a highly motivated seed biologist/ecologist to join a project funded by the Forestry Commission on UK native tree seeds. The project aims to understand inter- and intra-specific variation in germination and other seed traits and to apply this knowledge to optimise seed quality and germinability via innovative high throughput optical screening techniques. The Research Assistant will conduct laboratory work to generate seed trait data including germination, analyse trait data and participate in outreach activities.

We are seeking an individual with a degree (or equivalent academic qualification) in a relevant subject (e.g., biology, botany), with experience of working with seeds. Experience of generating plant or seed trait data in a laboratory environment is also essential. You will be a team player who can work on their own initiative, and have a clear and methodical approach to work, with meticulous attention to detail.
This role is based at Wakehurst with the option of regular home working, subject to operational requirements.

The salary will be £28,249 per annum (pro rata).
