Job description

xDesign is a UK-based Digital Development Partner working with some of the UK's most recognisable brands like MoneySavingExpert, FanDuel and Tesco Bank. Our reputation as a partner determined to deliver high-quality and robust web and mobile products has enabled us to scale to over 450 people in the last few years.

With even more ambitious growth plans for 2023 and beyond, we're looking for a curious and detail-oriented Business Analyst to work in partnership with our clients to translate customer needs into requirements for our cross-functional engineering teams. This is a great opportunity to make aA significant individual impact while working in a highly collaborative and progressive environment. We don't just talk about making products awesome for clients - we go and make it happen.

Our recent partnership with MoneySaving Expert is an excellent example of this approach in action, read our case study here

About the role and team:

You'll join one of our embedded client teams, working directly with key internal stakeholders within the client and internal stakeholders; our engineering, QA and Design teams. As a BA, you play a huge role when it comes to making the key elements of a project digestible, understandable and robust enough so that all involved are set up for success.

You'll also be part of our extensive Product team, which is made up of highly talented BAs and Product Managers who you can rely on for support throughout your project duration.

We define our mid-level role as someone who is confident with BA processes such as user story mapping etc, and is able to identify and communicate potential risks within the project to internal stakeholders.

What you'll be doing:

  • Working with clients and product teams to understand the "what" and then collaborating with the internal design and engineering teams to determine the "how" whilst validating that an idea is feasible, desirable and viable
  • Uncovering, shaping and documenting requirements with stakeholders and development teams
  • Working with development teams to scope out technical requirements in order to produce a backlog.
  • Supporting client engagements on the likes of API's, microservices, data integrations etc
  • Ensuring that backlogs are maintained, and sprint ceremonies are carried out to ensure the constant evolution of a product is taking shape
  • Presenting and refining user stories with the engineering, QA and design teams through the end-to-end delivery process
  • Writing training documentation and carrying out the training to the end users of our products due to the knowledge gained and understanding of how the product should work.
  • Providing clarity through your technical writing, which is mainly user story writing, but also extends to user process mapping, data analysis, defining data dictionaries and activity diagrams
  • Discussing velocity reports & burndown charts with Engineering/Delivery Managers and attending retrospectives to identify and implement improvements to ways of working in the team

We'd love to talk to you if:

  • You can bring structure and clarity to the ambiguous to provide engineering teams with clear and concise requirements to facilitate driving successful development work
  • Have experience of mapping As Is and To Be processes
  • Have experience of obtaining relevant information from API documentation
  • You're confident in facilitating workshops with clients and can easily communicate ideas to stakeholders at all levels, both technical and non-technical
  • You have experience using techniques such as User Story mapping to capture requirements
  • You are comfortable working in an autonomous environment and prioritising shifting workloads
  • You are a capable problem solver who brings energy and enthusiasm to your work and team
  • You are proactive in seeking answers to enable the efficient delivery of solutions
  • You're able to communicate well with stakeholders of different levels
  • You're eager to broaden your skillset to be a more "T-Shaped" BA

What we'll offer you:

We have a tight-knit community across our Product and BA team who all actively contribute to a culture of learning and knowledge sharing within our team, so you'll have a great bunch to work with and learn from. We also encourage the team to get involved in the wider community outside of xDesign, like meet-ups and Hackathons.

We also have a transparent progression framework so you can take ownership of your future career at xDesign. We're also set up to support internal mobility to other roles, such as Product Management.

We have a range of employee-led communities such as STEM, security, accessibility, neurodiversity and more. You can even start your own, everyone has an opportunity to make an impact on the wider business.

Our benefits include:

  • 6 paid learning and development days a year and a generous individual budget
  • Total 35 days holiday (we have flexible bank holidays)
  • Comprehensive private medical insurance
  • Enhanced parental and adoption leave
  • 1-1 professional financial coaching
  • Up to 50% off an electric vehicle
