Project Services are a specialist team within Information Services who deliver IT and business change projects with partners across the University. Our diverse project portfolio supports research, teaching and professional services improving business efficiency, enhancing student experience, maintaining IT compliance and enabling digital transformation.
This post will be based in our Applications Directorate Portfolio and will involve working closely with our IT team, including software developers and applications infrastructure specialists, as well as business partners from across the University.
This permanent position offers a salary of £37,099 - £44,263 and has a hybrid-working pattern. The post holder is expected to work in our offices, in Edinburgh, at least one day per week.
Ideally, we would like the Business Analyst to work full-time (35 hrs per week). However, we are committed to offering flexibility so would be happy to consider part-time hours or other flexible working options.
This role involves:
Working as part of project teams to deliver IT and business change projects which enhance University services for its students, staff and other stakeholders
Working collaboratively with business partners and technology specialists to engage stakeholders, gather business requirements, model business processes and analyse data to ensure the effective use of IT systems and capabilities
Working with colleagues across the University to develop more efficient and effective and business processes which meet user needs
Running analysis workshops and presenting outcomes
Developing options appraisals and recommendations for inclusion in business cases
Working with technology specialists to map business requirements to technology capabilities and specify IT solutions
Leading and supporting business partners through the entire project lifecycle from requirements specification to user acceptance testing and implementation

Effective knowledge and use of standard business analysis tools and techniques in traditional and agile project environments
Strong and demonstrable business analysis experience with a track record of successful delivery

Experience of business process re-design and successfully delivering business change
A willingness to innovate and seek new approaches to achieve positive outcomes for our business partners, end-users and other stakeholders
