What you will be doing?

The Business analyst works with the organization to identify & define opportunities for improvement and deliver change successfully to people, processes, and technology.

Main accountabilities incorporate

  • Know Your Customer: Able to effectively engage with multiple stakeholder groups and build trusted relationships. Adept at influencing stakeholders and managing relationships effectively. Build strong relationships and convey clearly and consistently with stakeholders.
  • Scope of assignment allocation: Responsible for ensuring that you and the BAs in your project team are being used appropriately within change initiatives and in line with the Business Analysis Service Offering. For your initiative(s), actively tracking the allocation of self and BAs under your supervision and advising on the need for more/less time allocation.
  • Promote the solution of initiatives: Responsible for the production of terms of reference for each work allocation, supporting the Senior Business Analyst to define the scope, schedule, and outputs of solutions.
  • Task management of developing BAs: accountable for input to and executing against Business Analysis Approach for each assigned initiative, provide appropriately regular progress reports, act to facilitate remediation and escalate by exception, provide guidance to developing BAs on the end-to-end change lifecycle, Quality Assure BA work (peer review) and documented outputs. Provide feedback to Line Manager by way of regular performance feedback, coaching, and mentoring, developing BAs.

What will you bring to the role?

  • Stakeholder Management, taking a customer-centred approach, working closely with business areas on the business issue, guiding and positively challenging preconceptions, and driving partnerships across teams to optimize opportunities within Thames Water.
  • Energetic throughout the entire project life cycle from Solutioning (Definition & Design) through to project closure. Proactively and constructively challenges the business, putting the customer at the heart of the design.
  • In support of a senior colleague, consulting with key stakeholders and project teams to establish project scope and required Business Analysis deliverables
  • Ability to elicit requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements sessions, use cases, scenarios, tasks, and workflow analysis.
  • Ability to evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into detail, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs.
  • Ability to adapt to evolving and changing needs. Initiative-taking, resourceful, and have the ability to work under your own initiative and the ability to manage a varied workload in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Data analysis activities, working collaboratively with project leaders and business teams to interpret data and formulate action plans and recommendations
  • Exercising and demonstrating your expertise in the practice of Business Analysis, in both Agile and traditional environments.
  • Flexible approach to working with and shaping a range of different delivery methodologies across the Agile-Waterfall spectrum.
  • Advanced Level experience in using Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
  • Business Analysis Diploma or Achieved (BCS or equivalent international qualification)
  • 3+ years’ experience in business analysis, process definition and analysis, and requirements definition and analysis; with 2 significant prior business analysis focussed roles.
