The Role:
Developing high-quality, engaging insight for stakeholders across the business, blending the technical skills and knowledge required to work with large volumes of varied data, and the stakeholder management skills to proactively understand requirements and manage expectations.
This role will have a significant focus on developing the BI capability of a particular brand, the data for which is relatively new to the reporting suite, therefore offers a unique opportunity to ‘build from the ground up’ and be at the forefront of new insight relations.
Great progression opportunities you will have frequent contact / exposure to multiple levels of senior management. As the role evolves, there is capacity to move into a senior BI role.
Responsibilities:
- Leading the development of new insight dashboards in Tableau, in consultation with colleagues across the group to ensure requirements are fully understood and met.
- Support the wider BI team on proactively providing polished insight to colleagues across the group, reflecting business needs.
- Using initiative & problem-solving skills to assist colleagues with complex calculations/ data through Tableau.
- Creating a wide range of periodic MI and KPI reports for senior level management, ensuring they are consistently produced with efficiency and quality.
- Work collaboratively with the data integration team to ensure that changes to the underlying data fields and structure are understood and managed effectively between the two teams.
- Regularly provide clear and succinct insight to senior management.
Essentials:
- Highly numerate
- Highly organised – ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent Excel skills.
- Ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues to understand requirements and propose solutions.
- Proactive mindset and demonstratable ability to use initiative.
- Communication skills – ability to explain complex concepts in a clear, succinct manner.
- Demonstratable experience of paying attention to detail and implementing processes to check quality of work.
- Confident presenting to a medium sized audience.
Desirable:
- Experience with any BI tool would be advantageous. Bonus points for Tableau experience/ qualifications.
- Experience in/ understanding of financial services/ insurance industry.
- Experience engaging with senior stakeholders and demonstratable ability to tailor communication style to suit a senior audience.
- Basic SQL, R, Python skills are a bonus but not required. providing recommendations to improve internal practices, and assisting with business strategy planning. The Business Analyst will work directly with senior management and communicate recommendations both verbally and in written form. The right candidate will have a background of improving internal systems, strong analytical skills and a penchant for working in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Analyse business processes and identify areas for improvement.
- Work with business partners to understand their requirements.
- Document and communicate business processes, operational problems, and solutions.
- Provide leadership in process improvement.
- Assess the impact of IT systems on business.
- Facilitate the transition to newer systems.
