As a Finance function, data is critical to all that we do. The Data Sourcing team is part of the wider Finance Data Governance team and is responsible for sourcing data from authoritative sources as part of the buildout of Finance Data Warehouse (FDW) as well sourcing data in response to evolving regulatory requirements. The team is also responsible for documenting the metadata and controls associated with that data in the Firmwide Data Catalog. The team is focused on ensuring the completeness and accuracy of FDW to support data consumers across the wider Finance organisation.

This is a growing team in Glasgow which presents a great opportunity for the successful candidate to help shape the function going forward, with a platform to influence across the Finance Data team and gain exposure to a wide range of functions and products across Morgan Stanley.
The successful candidate will work with colleagues in Glasgow as well as globally across Finance, Technology, Operations, and other business units.

What will you be doing?

    Performing business analysis in support of the data sourcing efforts from authoritative sources for Regulatory and Data Transformation projects.
    Partnering with Finance stakeholders and IT colleagues to determine requirements, identify issues and track prioritization and remediation.
    Reconciling and analysing large data sets in Excel, connecting the dots from multiple financial systems in Trade Capture, Front Office, Risk and Reference data domains.
    Investigating, summarising, and presenting results in a meaningful format to Finance stakeholders and Senior Management.
    Working in an Agile environment to contribute to key project workstreams relating to buildout of evolving regulatory rules.
    Documenting business and controls metadata in the Firmwide Data Catalog.

    Communicating and escalating to line management as appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS

What we’re looking for:

Skills Required :

    Business Analyst with advanced Excel skills and experience within the Financial Services Industry.
    Strong analytical, organisational and documentation skills with an ability to understand processes and key controls and how they could be improved.
    Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) and the ability to liaise with colleagues of all levels.
    Highly numerate with an attention to detail and accuracy.

    Self-motivated with the ability to work consistently and efficiently to achieve goals either as an individual or as part of a team.

Skills Desired :

    Domain knowledge in Capital markets including understanding of financial products (e.g.: Options, Futures, etc.), domains (reference data, risk data etc.)
    Knowledge of Project Management approaches such as Agile.

    Experience of Digital Tooling such as Alteryx or Power BI would be beneficial but is not essential.#LI-RG1 #LI-hybrid
