The Technology function is led by a CIO who manages a team of around 200 IT professionals. Reporting to the CIO are 4 CTO’s.
This role sits within our Group and Enterprise Applications IT change team which is made up of a number of PMs, BAs, Delivery Managers and led by a Portfolio Manager. The Group and Enterprise Applications team are accountable for the full life cycle of over 100 applications. The team deliver a large change portfolio for Group and Enterprise Applications and also support change for the Business Group Functions teams. Within Hiscox our business analysts work on the analysis and definition of change to our business systems which can be minor systems changes right up to radical enhancements to the groups technical delivery. This will be a self-starters role, in a fast paced, challenging and dynamic business. We would expect you to be inquisitive, work well in ambiguous and unclear circumstances and deliver a strong consensus on effective data management and have prior delivery experience on integration projects and a strong ability to identify dependencies.
Key responsibilities
- Build strong productive relationships with the business, IT teams and external third parties in order to deliver effective solutions based on a deep understanding of the business
- Conduct requirements gathering sessions with various levels of the business & IT, ensuring that the strategic needs are being met while also realising incremental benefits
- Produce high quality business analyst deliverables, including business cases, user stories, use cases, requirements traceability, acceptance criteria, functional & non-functional specifications
- Take full ownership of managing the product backlog of key systems, where required

Act as primary focus for questions related to business usage of systems within your sphere of influence.
Support the system and business test teams, helping with understanding of the change and reviewing test cases to ensure full coverage - Support the on-going development of the Business Analyst function at Hiscox, developing standards, procedures, and knowledge transfer
- Understanding how data flows through the relevant interfaces and an analysis of the existing and future data retention requirements that need to be adhered to
Person Specification
- Have proven experience of capturing, documenting and delivering detailed requirements
- Have exposure to methods for testing of requirements and measuring the delivery of these through the project lifecycle.
- Exposure to the full project life cycle, from inception to BAU handover
- Have proven experience of both Waterfall and Agile methodologies
- Understanding of security concepts [Desirable]
- Experience of working with regulatory and security projects [Desirable]
- Experience of Data Privacy and Retention [Desirable]
- Experience of developing operating models [Desirable]
- Hold relevant industry qualifications e.g. ISEB, PRINCE2 [Desirable]
- Have the ability to combine “soft” influencing, persuasion and consultancy skills with “leadership” qualities that will encourage business leaders to positively respond to questions, enquiries and requests to meet deadlines
- Intellect and gravitas to influence and gain credibility with Hiscox business personnel and management
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of working with people at all levels within and external to the business.
