We are looking to recruit a driven, proactive Business Analyst to join our Business Process & Improvement Team. If you can hit the ground running, enjoy the fast pace of a Business Process Department, and want to enjoy coming to work, this could be the role for you!

As a Business Analyst, you will be responsible for identifying and understanding challenges within the business and handling change requests that come into the team via our Jira service desk ticketing system. You will have responsibility for assessing challenges and change requests and determining stakeholders and business requirements and will work closely with the change managers, project manager and documentation team to develop efficient, cost-effective solutions.

The BA role will be the customer facing element of our change control team and be a ‘Subject Matter Expert’ of our in-house collection platform, Edge.

The role is office based, located at our Darlington office, and with Hybrid working there is also flexibility to work some days from home. The role is a full time, permanent position working 9-5 Monday to Friday and reports to the Head of Business Process & Improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Review, maintain and create standard operating procedures (SOP’s).
  • Determine stakeholders impacted by the proposed change and ensure they are informed and engaged.
  • Analyse change requests.
  • Use big data to analyse how processes/operations are impacting business value/revenue.
  • Identify cost savings.
  • Determine the cost, risk and opportunities from the change being requested.
  • Ensure change requests are in line with industry regulations and legislation.
  • Determine possible effects of business decisions on future performance.
  • Use modelling tools to demonstrate as-is and to-be.
  • Challenge proposed changes to ensure the request and required outcomes are understood.
  • Write up clear business requirements.
  • Draft Future Mode of Operation (FMO).
  • Ticket up configuration work packages in Jira.
  • Ensure the safe and correct application of configuration changes to Edge.
  • Work with other team members to draft a full set of QA test cases to be carried out by the test team.
  • Work with the technical writer to update existing process manuals and user guides to reflect the FMO.
  • Conduct post change monitoring/analysis to ensure the change has delivered all the business requirements (plan, do, check, act).
  • Work with the Head of BPI and Project Manager to progress new initiatives/innovations/improvements.
  • Optimise development of innovative solutions.
  • Propose new projects to build solutions.
  • Validate forecasts and assumptions.
  • Conduct solution assessment and validation.
  • Ensure changes delivered meet business requirements.
  • Manage the contract setup process when new bids/tenders have been won. Ensuring accurate system configuration, testing and client approval/sign off.
  • Fix, remove or minimise the way in which the business uses the Edge platform to realise process optimisations.
  • Learn from incidents and take action to prevent them happening again.
  • Conduct effective risk management to mitigate/minimise risks.
  • Contribute to a centre of excellence for innovation
  • Proactively identify operational and business challenges and provide timely solutions.
  • Assist in the effective management of suppliers.
  • Support and facilitate auditing and reporting of issues raised and work carried out.
  • Assist in increasing business retention, keeping costs contained and building better relationships with customers and key stakeholders.
  • Ensure maximum value for stakeholders.
  • Monitor competitor products and services and consumer behaviour to identify possible improvement initiatives.

Personal qualities, experience, and skills

  • College or University education in IT, Software Development or similar.
  • BCS Business Analysis Practitioner or similar.
  • Change management practitioner or similar.
  • IT literate, proficient in Microsoft Office Packages including Excel.
  • Good written and verbal communication in English
  • 3 or more years previous experience in a Business Analysis role for a similar size organisation (400 FTE+)
  • Experience of configuring and implementing new processes ▪ SQL writing skills

Desirable skills

  • BS Degree in Business Administration or Financial Management
  • Prince2 or Agile project management practitioner
  • Knowledge of programming languages.
