The role
As a Lead Business Analyst, you will be responsible for managing a team of BAs for Supply Chain. Leading by example, you will use your experience to guide the team in producing the right outputs, promote skills development, and foster a supportive, open environment. You will also have opportunities to shape and develop the business analysis function.
When assigned to projects and programmes, you will enable the effective commencement and delivery of complex projects through the provision of thorough business analysis. This will require you to pick up new understandings at pace and proactively engage colleagues across the business to elicit and document requirements, and map as is and to be processes.
You will also be responsible for refining these requirements and developing acceptance criteria as well as ensuring traceability from project objectives to delivered change. Working on Waterfall and some agile projects, the successful candidate will be able to flex depending on the needs of the project, recognising that boohoo is fairly early on in its application of Agile in some areas.
What you’ll be doing:
Team management
- Primary business analysis SME for supply chain
- Relationship management with business stakeholders in the area and responsibility for optimising ways of working with the business to ensure appropriate buy in and engagement
- Building an in-depth understanding of your functional area and developing this business knowledge in your team
- Line management and coaching of a small team of business analysts
- Supervision of more junior business analysts on projects and programmes
- Ultimate responsibility for requirements sign off and documentation completion for your team
- Responsible for encouraging a one team ethos across project delivery
Business analysis
- Performing business analysis in the early stages of a project to ensure the why, what, when and how much is understood as well as alignment with business strategy
- Organising and facilitating the required meetings and workshops to support project discovery and delivery
- Identifying and addressing operational, financial and technological risks within the business.
- Using various analytic skills and tools to quantify a problem
- Documenting the as-is and to-be processes
- Leading requirements elaboration during the low level design and build of the solution whilst ensuring the business is fully informed and any business related activities are coordinated alongside any IT deliverables
- Ownership of the requirements document, ensuring that the right stakeholders have been engaged and requirements have been documented and considered at the right level
- Ensuring scope and requirements are sufficiently understood
- Working with technical and warehouse operation SMEs to break down requirements and develop tasks and acceptance criteria
- Working with the IT solution architect and development leads in the production of an IT Solution Design ensuring that proposed solutions are aligned with IT strategy yet meet business expectations.
- Working as part of a Development Team to ensure costs, timescales and any feasibility constraints are sufficiently understood and conveyed to the business
- Ensuring requirement traceability is maintained throughout the development lifecycle and that any scope changes are sufficiently managed
- Ensuring consistent analysis standards are used across projects and any cross project dependencies are sufficiently identified and managed
- Identifying and driving improvement opportunities and introducing industry best practice, tools and techniques
- Ensuring that deliverables are produced according to plans and departmental quality standards

- Has the ability to be able to refine requirements and issues in a way that can be understood at different levels e.g. developers, architects the business etc.
- Can advise the project team on the right tools and methodologies to be utilised in the discovery and delivery phases
- Can effectively process model, and document Systems Use Cases that describe key business processes
- Able to properly define acceptance criteria to support in the effective testing of requirements
- The ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective leadership and coaching skills.
