Shell Trading & Supply is one of the largest energy trading organisations in the world with Hubs in London, Houston, Singapore, Dubai and Rotterdam. We support the Shell Group through trading environmental products, biofuels, Gas, Power, LNG, chemical feedstocks, crude oil, refined products, and freight in trading hubs all over the world. We are active in most energy markets across the globe, sourcing from a wide range of suppliers and selling to a wide range of customers, both internally and externally to Shell.

As a Business Analyst, you will support the Shell Energy business working in projects for Trading, focusing on trading activities. You will experience a great opportunity to participate in delivering IT solutions in support of Shell’s Energy transformation.

What’s the role?
Working as a business analyst, you would be responsible for the identification and documentation of business requirements, working with business, IT stakeholders and technical teams to determine feasible solution options. You would actively manage the requirements through the end-to-end solution delivery lifecycle then transfer expertise to the support team.
Your role will vary depending on your project(s), typically you would perform the following
Assess and model processes, data flows, and technology to understand the current value and issues, and identify opportunities for improvement.
Building relationships with key stakeholders, keeping them informed, managing expectations, develop trust, respect, and credibility
Able to link technical solutions with business strategy when working with business partners.
Serves as an SME for specific tools, techniques, or business areas.
Coaching and mentoring of the junior members of the business analysis team
What we need from you
Commodity Trade lifecycle experience ideally in the energy markets.
Detailed knowledge of at least one of the following functional areas:
Front Office - complex deal modelling, pricing, P&L and exposure management
Middle Office - Market Risk and Risk Valuation
Back-Office – Confirmations and Settlements processes and/or accounting processes
Team player and able to collaborate, proactively communicates and shares understanding and experience within a multicultural team
Experience - Desirable
The ideal candidate will have ETRM experience, but this is not essential if you have strong experience in another areas of energy trading applications
Experience in one of the following markets considered an advantage: European Power, European Gas, LNG and/or Environmental products
