The Role
Evident is seeking a positive minded, organised, and competent individual to join us as a Business Admin and Payroll Officer.
This broad ranging role offers responsibility and variety within a team that is passionate about supporting sustainability and leading the transition to the clean economy.

What you’ll do
In this role, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive on-site support to the smooth running of our Sheffield office and Evident’s business-related administrative requirements. You will also process the monthly payroll for our c.50 salaried staff, and support with handling incoming and outgoing invoices.
Key duties include:
- Preparation, completion, and validation of payroll data each month using Xero software.
- Process sales ledger, purchase ledger invoices and keep accurate records for both.
- Ensure the smooth running of the office building day-to-day and maintain the safety and compliance of all office areas through a regular calendar of health and safety checks.
- Build and manage effective, positive relationships with external vendors, contractors, and service providers, and all other stakeholders. Organise building maintenance works as needed.
- Ensure that there are effective administrative systems and procedures in operation.
- Uphold good information governance and follow GDPR guidance in the maintenance of business, administrative and building records.
- Respond to a range of internal and external enquiries using a high level of initiative.
- Utilise effective IT skills to streamline records and produce quality documentation.
About You
Our ideal candidate is a flexible, adaptable, and approachable individual who will:
- Have previous experience in a senior office administrative and/or business support role.
- Possess experience of, and knowledge in, processing a routine monthly payroll, including experience with NEST pensions or similar.
- Demonstrate experience in creating and processing routine and ad hoc invoices.
- Have previously worked in a start-up or fast paced, business environment.
- Have excellent organisational skills, with the ability to multitask and work on a variety of tasks and deadlines, prioritising work effectively.
- Possess core knowledge regarding office health and safety, payroll processes/statutory payments, GDPR fundamentals and IT packages including excel.
- Be able to coordinate with suppliers and arranging with third parties for service provision.

Package Description
- Salary: From £25,000 per annum, depending upon experience.
- Hours of work: Full time (35 hours), Monday to Friday with a one-hour lunch break.

Location: Sheffield, S10. You need to be able to work from an office location – limited provision for remote or hybrid work.
