Pay Range
$26.23 - $31.85 Hourly
Please note that the pay range information is a general guideline only. Many factors are taken into consideration when setting starting pay including education, experience, the external labor market, and internal equity.
Job Description
Asset Management has several openings for Shuttle Taxi Drivers. Under minimal supervision, the incumbent will drive a variety of vehicles including commercial motor vehicle (bus) and light passenger vehicles in support of the Supply and Distribution, Institutional Support and Supply Services Division’s (SDD) Taxi Services transportation requests. Interacts with a variety of high-level managers and visitors. This position is in the Supply and Distribution Division in the Asset Management Department.
In this role you will
Pick up passengers at points referred by Dispatcher.
Provide transportation to senior laboratory management, VIPs, and distinguished visitors. This includes providing transportation support required by the Protocol Office.
Operate paratransit wheelchair lift.
Operate two-way radio to communicate with Dispatcher.
Inspect assigned vehicle routinely, noting any mechanical deficiencies. Also wash exterior and clean interior of assigned vehicles.
Serve as relief vehicle dispatcher, which includes dispatching taxis to passenger pickup points using a two-way radio.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Current CA Class B Driver’s License with P-Endorsement.
Excellent driving record.
Safe driving skills and knowledge of Department of Motor Vehicle regulations and California Vehicle Codes.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to use tact, diplomacy, and discretion when dealing with customers.
Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds at one time.
Knowledge of Bay Area streets, highways, and airport locations.
Knowledge and abilities in the operation of two-way radios..

Position Information
This is a Flexible Term appointment, which is for a definite period not to exceed six years. If final candidate is a Career Indefinite employee, Career Indefinite status may be maintained (should funding allow).

Security Clearance
This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance. If you are selected, we will initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if you meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. Also, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing. Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship.
