Bury St Edmunds Library and Information Advisor
Suffolk Libraries is an independent and charitable society which now runs Suffolk’s library service.
Our Libraries are looking for people who share our values and want to join our team. We are interested in someone who:
- Can deliver great customer service to people of all ages
- Can demonstrate appropriate and effective communication skills with the aim of building positive and supportive relationships with our customers, team and community
- Can engage confidently with young people and is enthusiastic, keen and willing to deliver the programme of activities we offer including children’s activities and crafts
- Is IT literate and competent in the use of: the internet, social media, email, mobile devices and applications and who could also offer guidance to customers
- Has the ability to work as an effective team member
- Can, with training, carry out the full range of library procedures including lending books, supporting self-service, shelving, taking payments, stock work, finding customer requests, help create and put-up displays, re-arrange the library as and when required.
If you have experience in a customer facing role, enjoy helping people, have a willingness to work within a team in a busy environment, experience of working with children and an interest in books and computers, we would like to hear from you.
Please note at times this role can be physically demanding.
This position is for an average of 28 hours per week on the following work pattern:
Week 1
Monday 10-2, Tuesday 10-2, Wednesday 9-5, Thursday 9-2, Friday 8.30-5 = 27.5
Week 2
Monday 1-5.30, Tuesday 8-5, Wednesday 8-5.45, Saturday 8-5 = 28.75
The rate of pay for this position commences at £10.42 per hour.
