BUK Social Purpose and Sustainable Finance –Delivery Director

Within Barclays UK (BUK), we want to empower our retail and business customers with the knowledge, tools and solutions to transition by identifying key opportunities where there is a real need for sustainable products and services.
- The Transformation and Delivery Director (Sustainable Finance) is responsible for managing the delivery of key sustainability projects and leading the business transformation to embed sustainability into BUK operations
- The successful candidate will be accountable for colleague engagement, training, standards, and policies, ensuring sustainability and purpose is integrated into BUK culture and operations
- They will need to work closely with key stakeholders across the bank to promote sustainability and build support for sustainability initiatives, providing regular updates to senior management on project progress, risks, and issues, and developing and implementing mitigation strategies as required. Overall, the role will play a crucial part in achieving the bank's sustainability objectives and helping to build a sustainable future for the bank and its customers
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of BUK sustainability strategy, objectives, and priorities
- Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets for Sustainability projects and the BUK Social Purpose Enterprise Programme (in partnership with Transform)
- Lead and manage teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality
- Deliver the BUK change programme directly, as well as through partnerships and business units
- Provide regular updates to key stakeholders on project progress, risks, and issues, and develop and implement mitigation strategies as required
- Ensure project and programme outcomes are aligned with BUK sustainability strategy, Transformation (including Transition States) and contribute to the achievement of BUK sustainability OKRs
- Work with and own relationships with delivery partners (e.g. Marketing and DNA) and functional stakeholders (e.g. Legal, Risk and Compliance)
- Design and execute our business transformation, including sustainability-related standards and policies and embedment into operations
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders across the bank to promote sustainability and drive engagement with our wider Social Purpose agenda
- Develop and deliver communication and engagement strategies to promote sustainability to colleagues at all levels of the bank (e.g. colleague roadshow or external speaker series)
- Work with business areas to identify opportunities to involve colleagues in sustainability initiatives and create a culture of sustainability within the bank
- Develop and manage team operations, including performance tracking and reporting
- Extensive experience leading delivery and transformation within a large, complex organization, preferably within the financial services sector and/or ESG sector
- Deep understanding of ESG issues and best practices for measuring and reporting sustainability and social purpose performance.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve ambitious goals.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop innovative solutions to complex sustainability and social purpose challenges.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex sustainability and social purpose issues to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
- Senior stakeholder management and leadership skills
- Ability to translate complex topics into concise, simple and compelling messages tailored for different audiences to get ongoing buy in and support for recommendations
- Able to drive forward initiatives and achieve goals in a highly dynamic and resource constrained environment through effective and agile decision making or escalation where required
- Experience working in the financial services sector is highly desirable

In the heart of Canary Wharf, our headquarters at Churchill Place boasts onsite amenities such as; a gym, staff restaurant and deli bar, and is easily accessible by tube and bus links. With a population of around 5000 staff the atmosphere is second to none with a real buzz being created around the offices within or at one of our UK hubs.
