Job title: Communications Manager, Media and Reputation
Location: Options include Glascoed, Portsmouth, Washington, Barrow, Scotstoun, Filton, or Frimley. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements - please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.
Salary: Circa £60,000 depending on experience
What you’ll be doing:
- Planning and delivering Sector-wide external content to enhance and protect reputation, including through proactive campaigns
- Proactively building and maintaining relationships with regional and trade media contacts and partners to proactively grow our regional profile
- Collaborating with colleagues to deliver a robust programme of external communications, representing our business activities and strategic themes such as sustainability, technology and digital solutions
- Collaborating with our channel managers to ensure targeted placement of content to key external audiences through media and social media channels
- Leading our agency model to provide surge resource and content delivery capability into our lines of business, including in issues handling, acting as primary press office for the Sector
- Line management responsibilities for two Communications Advisors
Your skills and experiences:
- An experienced communicator with the skill to turn complex subjects into accessible and engaging content, with expert knowledge communications principles, techniques and skills, in particular stakeholder management and media handling skills
- Depth of knowledge of the UK media landscape and experience generating positive media coverage, with the ability to understand the Markets in which BAE system and its competitors operates
- Ability to translate Business Strategy into action for people agendas, creating winning solutions and output for the business
- History of making evaluative judgments of both factual and qualitative information drawn from a variety of sources
- Demonstrable customer focus, the ability to build effective relationships through collaboration and experience of people management or leading small team

Employing in excess of 24,000 highly skilled colleagues across its Submarines, Naval Ships, Maritime Services, Munitions and Australia businesses the Maritime and Land Sector is growing; and in order to best position itself to meet future challenges its Communications function is evolving to enhance and realign the delivery of integrated and proactive communications.
As a result, we have created a new Media and Reputation team to support the external communications agenda, including thought leadership, editorial and media relations activity. This team will enhance our reputation through the development and delivery of our reputation strategy; showcasing our people and the solutions, systems and products they deliver.
