Excellent opportunity to join our multi-skilled Estates Maintenance team in a vibrant school environment of over 450 acres set within the South Downs National Park. Utilising your expertise in general building repairs, decoration, electrical, carpentry and general maintenance skills across our beautiful estate in Lavington Park near Petworth, West Sussex.

We are looking for a multi-skilled individual to join our in-house maintenance team on a permanent full time contract. BUILDING MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

RESPONSIBLE TO: Director of Estates & Operations

REPORTING TO: EstatesPremises Manager

JOB PURPOSE

To support Estates maintenance related work including planned preventative and reactive maintenance programmes on a variety of buildings and fabrics. To integrate into the existing Operations teams with a flexible team approach. To assist with upkeep and safety checks of college equipment including the school minibus fleet.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To undertake general multi-disciplined maintenance duties including electrical (where competent), plumbing, carpentry and general building to a high standard using appropriate tools, equipment and machinery. Strong decoration skills are a main skill set requirement of this role
  • Respond to the Maintenance Helpdesk System with work requests received and ensure that requests/repairs are prioritised and completed correctly and safely.
  • Attend and respond to repairs and problems in a prompt and efficient manner.
  • Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) programme and routine checks.
  • Work with the Premises Manager to ensure compliance with relevant Health and Safety legislation on estates/maintenance matters.
  • Adhere to the Health & Safety protocols in place, promote safe working and escalate any risks to the Premises Manager.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties/tasks as requested by the Estates Premises Manager
  • Liaise/work closely with all other departments within the College.
  • To undertake occasional driving both on and off site
  • To assist when required in the planning and facilitation of college events and external lets
  • Liaising and working alongside Contract companies and external suppliers ensuring quality of service together with compliance to Health & Safety procedures.
  • Undertake minor development projects across all aspects of the schools-built assets.

To assist with duties and activities relating to the general administration and control of the school as the Headmaster and Governing Body shall, from time to time, reasonably require.
