The Opportunity
This role is a fantastic opportunity for someone new in their Sustainability career, to join our dynamic and passionate Sustainability team, where you will be involved in BREEAM - learning and undertaking BREEAM assessments with the help of existing team members, supporting on a range of new build and refurbishment projects, such as custodian, schools, offices, and life sciences.
The projects this team work on are all geared to achieve BREEAM very good to outstanding ratings! (outstanding being the top 1% rating across the UK)
As part of our established team of multi-disciplinary engineers and sustainability specialists, you will have the opportunity to gain a thorough understanding of the various environmental systems for buildings, undertake assessments, provide sustainability advice and visit sites to see work being undertaken, whilst working towards professional membership.
What you will do
BREEAM
- Undertaking environmental assessments using the third-party assessment methodology – BREEAM.
- Engage with a range of developers, architects, engineers, contractors & manufacturers.
- Providing advice and guidance to clients and project teams.
- Review documentary evidence provided by project teams, assess this against the project’s targets and BREEAM criteria and provide feedback.
- Attending site visits to review progress against sustainability targets.
- Arranging and attending meetings, taking minutes and distributing actions.
Sustainability
- Be an integral team member to help to deliver the BakerHicks Sustainability imitative/business plan
- Communicate sustainability requirements to internal and external team members.
- Work to support the senior team with reviewing project details and developing targets for sustainability.

About YOU
- A basic understanding of BREEAM is desirable, but all training will be available for the right candidate.
- Work experience in sustainability or built environment consultancy.
- An MSc and/or BSc degree in Environmental Sciences/ Geography/Architecture/Engineering.
- Excellent research and analytical skills.
- Good attention to detail and meticulous approach to assessment.
- Confident to represent the company at meetings with excellent communication skills and positive & flexible attitude
- Good understanding of the fundamental principles of sustainability
